Too late for GGG. Now all he can do is hope Nelo gives him one more huge payday before retiring.

Canelo is just from a way more marketable demographic as a Mexican and the chemistry is strong with him

          ahahah

Golovkin LITERALLY did not, you dumb cvnt looooooooool...
          https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/356831

FACT: boxingscene, com scored that fight a draw, as did MANY others

you casual-fan shltheads need to learn that repeating nonsense does not make it true... it makes you a parrot, a repeater of nonsense

Its easy to seek out bigger and better fights when A) you always have the judges in your pocket B) you are allowed to force unfair concessions on opponents such as rehydration clauses and short preparation times for fights. Unfortunately Golovkin doesn't have that luxury but he is a real warrior so fights all opponents as they are at their best.

Can you really say Canelo is seeking out bigger and better fights though - on paper yes, but when you check it out there are asterisks' next to said fights. Kovalev was given a short preparation time from the Anthony Yarde fight to the Canelo fight, was slapped with a rehydration clause AND was fully washed up by then after being knocked out twice in the space of 24 months.

Callum Smith clearly lost to John Ryder (who campaigned mostly at MW) in his previous fight but was gifted the win to set up the more lucrative Canelo fight AND was then given a short prep time of 4 weeks.

Caleb Plant was a weak champion - his best win was against José Uzcátegui BUT who had José Uzcátegui beaten in his career? Yes you guessed it, nobody!

Billy Joe Saunders, whilst showing flashes of what he could do in the past had awful discipline between fights, often blowing up to 195 plus pounds AND not forgetting the fact he looked slow and horrible in his previous fight against the retiring Martin Murray.

So when you really check it out Canelo has not been facing live dogs or real creditable Champions since he unofficially lost and drew with Golovkin. I'll give him credit for Danny Jacobs but even there he slapped him with a rehydration clause lol. Why? I don't know, he must feel insecure about fighting bigger men?!

So much for daring to be great. Make no mistake Canelo's career is being carefully managed. He will not be stepping in with Benevidez or Beterbiev anytime soon, the later of which could be 18-24 months away.

When Golovkin was 30-34 at his absolute peak literally nobody at MW wanted that smoke. Felix Sturm, Sergio Martinez, Cotto... these were all active champions in his division who declined to fight him... it wasn't his fault, those in the scene had heard about the legendary sparring stories such as breaking partners ribs with body shots, beating up on cruiser and heavyweights and just wanted no part. Can you blame them? Facing Golovkin at that point must've been psychologically and physically terrifying; a well oiled, technically efficient beating machine who would not stop coming forward until you was either knocked out or saved by the ref.

only at 35, as the onset of athletic decline slowly started to creep in did we see fighters such as Jacobs, Canelo etc suddenly find the ballz to get in there with him and he still had enough in the tank to beat them both.

Did Canelo ever give Lara a rematch? The world saw Lara beat a peak Canelo on that night - look at the state of Canelo's face afterwards, he was eating left hands down the pipe all night but as usual was bailed out by some ridiculous judging. Canelo then preceded to run away from the Charlo's and Andrade at 154lbs...

GGG fought Sergiy Derevyanchenko at 37 years old. Now, it was a close fight don't get me wrong but look at the state of Derevyanchenko's face afterwards - it literally looked like he got hit by a 18 wheeler; one eye badly cut, the other eye closed, his nose bleeding... that tells its own story not to mention Golokin scored a knockdown. For me, many others and the judges Golokin JUST won that fight by virtue of the knockdown but it was a win none the less.

Wasn't Canelo mandated to fight Derevyanchenko for the IBF MW championship? What happened there? oh yes he ducked to face the alcoholic, washed up, in need if money Krusher Kovelev. He literally left Golovkin to clean up his mess. Derevyanchenko was a high risk low reward fight for him and he knew it. The guy had serious amateur pedigree - from 390 fights he only lost 20... that was not going to be an easy fight for Canelo!

I just wanna se Canelo fighting somebody who will actually come to win.

How about Charlo, Benavidez, Bivol, Beterbiev?

Please no, i don`t wanna se Plant and Saunders/Callum Smith alike guys, with or without the belts. Get real, his last real fight was GGG 2.

I’d find it VERY hard to believe he’s taken any in the last 12 months considering he’s fought 4 times in that period.

It's possible, and your theory has 100% a logical argument behind it, it might be, like I said I think the guy is clean but I can't prove it and I can't guarantee 100% he is.

If not illegal substances, I’ve had a feeling for years that a lot of pro sportspeople are on PEDs that are not on banned lists.

I remember saying so as far back as 2012 during the Olympics when I was telling my boss about Fabio Cannavaro (Italian soccer player) being injected with a ‘legal’ PED on camera back in 1999. Lo and behold, the whole Melodium scandal exploded in 2016 with a lot of Eastern Bloc sportspeople found to have been taking it for a decade plus.

Another point people may not recognise is how often people get popped because of ‘laziness’. What I mean by that is, I was reading a book some time ago in which a Jamaican athletics coach was saying some of their top sprinters were becoming sloppy in their training and letting themselves go a bit so that, sometimes in an effort to get into competition shape, they’d take risks with training supplements regularly. 3 of them got done that year, Asafa Powell being one of them.
