THROWBACK: Zab Judah vs. Cory Spinks II (For Undisputed)

Zab Judah's finest performance. He would never be anywhere close to this in any other fight including Paulie (where I still argue he threw it).

Cory Spinks was considered the boogeyman of the division. Floyd wanted to fight him, but the media criticized it as as Floyd not wanting to fight champions in his own class first. So he fought Baldomir, and NSB criticized that, so he was damned either way.

Near the end sequence Zab landed a brutal hook that made Spinks lean back like he was Fat Joe. Never seen anything like it and to Spinks' credit he was tough to catch. But Zab got it done.

As we get close to Crawford/Porter, there are obvious similarities with styles for Crawford and Cory Spinks plus the perception of being the boogeyman.

Will Shawn Porter be the Zab Judah to Crawford's Spinks...?

Judah gambled on himself and won big that night. Shame he never really capitalised on that win though.

He tried. Then he met Baldomir.

Before Carlos, Judah was starting to regain himself a bit but he got a big head coming off the Spinks win I believe. He thought he would run through Baldomir, but that guy was tough and I think Zab just lost the energy he once had. He never should have lost to Baldomir, period.

Judah lost focus... and he had a Street mentality that worked against him. Came from NYC Brooklyn fighting royalty, including dad who was prominent kick boxer...

Baldimore went in there to handle his business... Judah couldn't get it up so to speak... the rest is history.

Baldomir didn't do anything extraordinary. Judah didn't show up. Judah should have had Baldomir taking a knee inside of 6 rounds even as tough as he was, but Judah didn't half try.

Definitely. By the time he matured as a fighter the athleticism had regressed. We only ever saw flashes of how good Zab could have been.

Judah getting the TKO on Spinks was one of the most satisfying victories I've experienced as a fan.

Never liked boring ass Spinks, but I always rooted for Zab even after his bad performances.

How did he gamble on himself? Serious question

I don't know about ******** on himself but I think he basically fought that fight for free. I think he owed the IRS and Don King money. Great win in Spinks homework though.
