Id say a lot of it is not Canelo's fault. Boxing's field of talent, let alone his weightclass, is not what is once was. The level of talent is just not that deep any more.

Crazy how GGG wasn't prime, he was only ranked P4P #1 in the world.

Just like Floyd was an old man but ranked P4P #1 at the time.

0% chance Lara get's into the HOF.

            Kovalev very unlikely but possible.

Lara has literally not even 1% chance.

Wards resume doesn't compare to Canelos,Kov was literally 2 yrs older v Canelo than Ward(36)& Canelo actually kod him cleanly(& Kov had a better trainer/strategy compared to a traitor trainer like the one Ward fought)

Callum Smith was a better win than anyone besides Kov Ward faced,he was prime, lineal & had won same tournament as Ward & kod easily Groves who dropped Froch

                  Cotto, Mosley, Kovalev

Fighters who could get into HOF but aren't there yet: Callum Smith, Lara, GGG

Potential future opponents w/ HOF potential: Bivol, Beterbiev

Not to make this a comparison thread but it really puts into perspective how good Floyd and Manny were.

Floyd had DLH, Cotto, Mosley, Hatton, Pac, Canelo, Hernandez, JMM, Gatti

Pac had DLH, Cotto, Mosley, Hatton, Morales, Barrera, JMM, possibly Thurman (if he ever fights again)

...and I'm sure I'm missing some of the elite wins of Floyd/Manny career

Boxing as a sport has devolved since the induction of 4-5 "champions" in each weight class...now the WBC trying to add MORE weight classes and the IBO trying to become a 5th sanctioning body.

Boxing is a complete disaster and is doomed to failure unless change. PBC initially set out to make the "PBC" belt and I've always supported that because maybe the PBC belt could do away with ALL other belts. At this point what is needed is 1 belt. Not more refs, judges, trainers, etc. We need 1 champion per 1 weight class - that's IT.

The consequence is people don't follow boxing the way they used to and now we have a dilution of talent. Crawford had 1-2 real fights at 135-140 despite unifying. Canelo has 1-2 real opponents at 160-168 despite unifying. Same can be said for Josh Taylor...dilution of talent.
