I agree that there's nothing more to be done at 168 unless Charlo decides to move up and challenge Canelo... but disagree on Kovalev having a chance. The Kovalev around the Pascal fights absolutely would've been way too much for Canelo but sadly that Krusher is long gone. He's in his late 30's,is an alcoholic, been knocked out or put on ***** street by Ward,Alvarez,Yarde and Canelo now. He doesn't belong anywhere near Canelo at this point in his career.....where as Bivol and Beterbiev do. Beterbiev is no spring chicken himself so if that fight is going to get made let's hope it's soon.
Canelo would get outworked by D Benevidez just admit it

Lol these kinds of comments were inevitable. "Canelo would definitely lose to PBC fighter 1" Canelo beats PBC fighter 1, "yeah but Canelo would definitely lose to PBC fighter 2" Canelo beats PBC fighter 2, "yeah but Canelo would definitely lose to PBC fighter 3" and so on and so on.Comment

Out worked?
Okay, let’s say that Benavides’s work rate is higher for the sake of argument.
Would Benavides take Canelo’s punch though?
because he sure in the hell isnt Lomachenko type of swarmer.
Benavidez will be in a dog fight if it came down to “out working” Canelo. Which to me means Benavides taking massive damage just to make the fight a brawl.
he gets stretched by canelo fighting that wayComment

David chose ******* and now he's an afterthought. At this point, he's in a submissive state and waiting to see what Canelo wants to do.Comment

And let's face it....David's an overweight plodder who wears guys down because of his size. His size hasn't been used against him yet and I'm almost sure Canelo will find a way to make him look ****** as well....like all past Canelo opponents. His fate is just as sealed as Plant, Yildrim, Smith and so on.Comment

Plant's only mistake was going on cruise control after winning the IBF strap. And let's face it....David's an overweight plodder who wears guys down because of his size. I felt Plant had the style to beat Saul but not the experience.
I'd suspect if Plant had taken a Spence Jr like path to his career instead of a Crawford on. The fight doesnt end with him taking that left hook.
Plant just lacked experience. I wont be surprised if Plant winds up the 168 top dog if Canelo leaves or calls it quits.
sort of like how Froch took over after Ward left.Comment

It was hard to watch because I was waiting for Plant to "turn it up a level" but that never really happened. We ALL saw Canelo closing the gap and you could feel the suffocation on Plant's end.
Plant's gotta get past Benavidez if that fight ever happens...then he'll be the top dog at 168. One thing I can say about Caleb....dude staaaays in the gym! I follow his IG and I'm so glad he didn't do himself a disservice by blowing up between fights. That's what you're supposed to do if you're in line to face the biggest name in the sport.
I also felt Caleb could've hired an assistant trainer for this one...maybe a year ago or so. As you said, Caleb went on cruise control once he became champion.Comment

Canelo still has awful stamina, he just manages better now and fights in spurts. Fortunately, he'ss really explosive and makes his punches count. He has a very visually pleasing style to watch and it allows him to steal rounds. Truthfully however he still only fights for 1 minute of every round. He's getting away with it at 168lbs because the division is god awful and filled to the brim with light punches.Benevidez has a long strong jab he pumps non stop. prolly the best jab in the sport at least top 3.
he fights tall unlike that stiff from europe. there is a huge size diffrence here. height and arm length.
benevidez throws a high volume of punches. he can rip them upstairs and downstairs. great comboination puncher.
mentally a beast. a bully. looks to hurt you inside that ring.
canelo still has awful stamina, and a fighter like benevidez would outwork and punishe the smaller canelo.
Once he fights David you're going to see that Canelo isn't much better than the GGG 2 fight (A fight that he lost close but was rewarded the decision) but David, unlike Golovkin, is much bigger, longer, and near his prime.
David lacks some of the gifts of Golovkin such as an ATG chin, not as good at mid-range, and one-punch power. But one thing he does have that Golovkin doesn't is a good inside game which I think will be key in him stopping Canelo late.

Canelo needs someone who is going to stand in there and hit him back and not run. Let's see how he likes it.Comment

Laughable post pretending anyone was calling from Plant, BJS, or Smith. Even more laughable to pretend anyone thought of them as a threat. Smith was maybe the only one any thought had a chance pre-Ryder. Once Smith lost to Ryder however it was obvious he just wasn't that good at 168 anymore.Plant was eliminated, BJS was eliminated now we move to the next guy to hype up as a credible opponent. There are no credible opponents in 168.
It doesn't matter if you are a fan or not, you can remain objective and recognize it, there is nothing more to do at 168, time to move up to LHW. That is where the true challenges lie. I still believe Kovalev could beat Alvarez if given the proper time to prepare, last time he had two training camps right before the Alvarez fight and if my memory serves me correct there was a rehydration clause in place as well? Things like these are why people aren't given Canelo his due credit for his talent.
Most were calling for Canelo to fight Charlo, Andrade, GGG 3 at 168lbs or Benavidez at 168lbs.. I can't fault Canelo for seeing a easier path at 168lbs (Once David was stripped) and taking the undisputed crown when all the champions posed less of a threat than the ones mentioned above. The championship pool at 168lbs was one of the weakest in the sport, much weaker than the pool at 160lbs post Benavidez being stripped.Comment
