Comments Thread For: Canelo: My Opponents Feel The Difference When Fighting Me Like When I Fought Mayweather

LAS VEGAS - Even though they exchanged insults and punches at their press conference to announce their November 6th showdown, Canelo Alvarez insists that he doesn't have any real animosity or even an opinion on what type of person Caleb Plant is.

I've always said this. You can be as confident as you want. Confidence doesn't win fights, skills do. To think that Danny Jacobs or C Smith weren't "confident" and just came to hand over their belts is insanity.

The pressure is on Canelo to help sell this fight and he knows it. Caleb is an unknown and a tough sell to the public. Hardly anyone has ever heard of or even seen him fight before. He's only feigning to dislike Plant in order to garner enough interest, buzz, stir, and excitement for the casual fan to want to purchase this pay per view fight.

dude you are being a casual , danny jacobs was shopworn and chinny and many people like myself that know boxing realized he didnt posses the skillset to threaten cinnamon and it was still a close fight , smith was a stiff eropean bum that canelo always feasts on , caleb is young brash fast smooth ****y aka white mayweather , this is the style canelo has problems with its not about the power , its the reason cinnamon avoids andrade who is long rangy athletic southpaw and charlo , he picks old jacobs to try to quiet dumb fans who say he avoids black fighters in thier prime , i think he finaly realized that plant is lying about the race on his birth certificate lol

"It is different for them obviously because it is their first really big event and you can see it. It happened to me when I fought with Floyd Mayweather when he was the best pound-for-pound fighter - which was my first event that big. It was a little different for me. You can feel the difference in the fight," -

What a clinical thing to say. No animosity or dogging, just a sober evaluation. You really can see it visually in the ring as well.

Nah, Plant is a genuinely unlikable person. LOL

I don't think you are disagreeing with his point. He was writing that Jacobs didn't have the ability to win the fight, even though he was confident. You then wrote that Jacobs "didn't posses the skillset..."

                Same thing

You can delude yourself into thinking Caleb is in with some kind of chance but the reality is he slowed down quite evidently in a fight he was in control of by round 4 (Truax) what's going to happen in a much bigger fight were nervous energy is likely to have huge impact and the opponent is far superior then Truax... it wouldn't be too surprising if he gets done in 5-6 rounds TBH.

I mean, his point is fair. Every fight he is in is an event. Usually, his opponents have never experienced something this large. It os an advantage to Alvarez to know how to tune it out when training.
