Canelo has fighters begging for a fight. Golovkin had fighters looking for excuses, including Canelo himself.

it’s all about risk /reward. To fight Canelo fighters are willing to sacrifice weight and/ or training time. Canelo is a lotto ticket to most of his opponents.

anyway I respect Canelo and what he’s doing but he’s the draw, he can get the money to get anyone in the ring.

GGG was avoided for years by top fighters, including by Canelo himself for a while, he even left the division and dropped a belt to avoid him. At the time GGG wasn’t a huge draw so wasn’t able to pick top opponents and get them to fight him. He was a massive risk and the reward wasn’t great, so he couldn’t get the rights if he had wanted them. There’s no guarantee to say even if he moved up in weight he was going to get bigger fights. Everyone weighs up the risk and reward, That’s why most people wouldn’t fight him until he showed he was ageing a bit and getting a bigger name.

At least with Canelo, you’re going to get a career high payday.
