Cotto is already a Hall of Famer, will beating Pacquiao catapult him to ATG top 100 ?

Cotto's in a tough position because he's kinda on the verge of greatness but still a couple steps away. The tough part is that the wins he needs to tip himself over the edge, I'm not confident he can produce. Personally I feel Pacquiao's scalp would do his all-time standing a world of good regardless of the size difference, it's a step in the direction of greatness but not quite a foot in the door though. He needs to go onwards and upwards from there and beat Mayweather. I'm fairly confident that Mayweather will fight him at some point if he triumphs over Manny but the problem is I'm also fairly confident that Mayweather gives him a whoopin'.

Mosley and Margarito wins would be excellent, but considering he's likely to pick up a loss or two in the mean time and effectively prove he's not on the level of all time greats like Floyd and Manny I don't think poor ol' Cotto will ever work his way onto ATG lists

Ruiz reminds people too much of themselves (they are like Ruiz, just without his determination).

He really is a good fighter. He's got a real rice right hand and hook and he's pretty cagey. He can be painful to watch but not always.
people forget ruiz has fast hands for a heavy and he's very skilled.

he was one of the top heavyweight prospects when he was young.

he would also throw a lot of punches especially jabs.

            Great post, totally agree.

However, if his last 4 fights are Pac, Floyd, Mosley, and Marg, and he emerges from that with only 1 loss, he'd be one of the better Welterweights in recent memory. Probably still not quite an ATG, but definitely a first ballot HOF.

Shane Mosley is not a JMW. Winky's wins over him are very overrated imo. In fact every time Shane has fought at JMW aside from his KO win over Vargas, he's looked slower and overall more sluggish.

And who are these lot of people? Mosley fans and Cotto haters. Almost all of them. Press row had scattered draws and Cotto wins.

You mean the former champion who made Cotto quit?
