No I'm right. In fact the Mayweather/Marquez fight is going to help the promotion if anything. Remember what Cotto/Pac potentially sets up.

You know it will happen though.

so all in all, this fight SHOULDN'T out-ppv cotto-pacman, but if it even comes close......'nuff said.
Very true, however boxing is a copycat sport and if the hteater thing works out (crossing my fingers, GREAT idea) then Arum might take it. It's all about money in his pocket though.

                  Antonio,

Apparently, there are some budget issues. And some logistical challenges The cost of overseas filming and then getting the tape to NY for editing.

For the current 24/7, they had a team in DF and TWO teams in Vegas following Floyd. And an editing crew in NYC that is working full time (and fast) on prepping the shows. it has been a logistical nightmare behind the scenes. I think insiders recognize how tough it is to do that show, and that's why 24/7 got Emmy Awards. Even the crappy jones/calzaghe edition.

Floyd needs two teams because of his wacky schedule. They are basically on call since FMJ trains at all times of the day or night.

Every day, they send the tape in to NYC via overnight courier. And then the writers do their thing, and get Liev to do the voiceover and then send it to sound editing. Then final editing and post-prod. All this happens in about two days for the Sat night show. It's crazy. And very expensive.

...also, HBO isn't sure there's a compelling story for either fighter (Pac-MAC).

The logistics are complicated by a Philippines location. The current mindset is that the next version (if they do one) will be different than what you saw in the past.

This is what I've heard from a TW source.

I think it ends up a lot closer then most people think, one way or the other.
                    i agree

in terms off ppv sales, this fight shouldn't come close.....pacquiao is world-reknowned, cotto is at least a fan favorite in NY, so he at least has a stronghold in the U.S.

as good as marquez is, there really is no place in this country where he could go and sell-out an arena on his own. he is virtually an unknown over here....in meixco its a diff story, but most ppl don't know marquez in the states.....so in all actuality, this fight shouldn't be able to touch the cotto fight, as this fight is really being carried on mayweather's name alone.....

when it's all said and done tho, after all the sponsor money is totalled up, all the money generated from the movie theater venture, then add in the ppv's and the live gate, this fight may very well come close to the amount that pacman-cotto generates....

i don't care tho, i'll be watching both fights, and even tho i'm a fan of mayweather, i really can't wait for pacman-cotto.

What's the rationale for Pac/Cotto doing as much as Pac/Hatton?

Ricky is a far more popular fighter.
