And I thought they needed extra money because they overpaid for crappy fights and overvalued fighters like Mikey..

Are you f'in kidding me? I've been a boxing fan for over 25 years and it has officially hit rock bottom. The content, the fights, the over the top promotion. Imagine having to Pay more money to listen to Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora, Brian Kenny and Tweedle dee who give a ****. DAZN had the greatest idea and treated their fans to a great opportunity, but the content, color commentary, and inability to get their fighters to actually ya know, fight, has left them struck out.

I don't mind paying a monthly fee for boxing content so long as there is enough content and it involves competitive fights. PPVs a little less willing to pay for unless it really moves the needle. I doubt I will be getting many Matchroom PPVs in the future.
I think one problem for Hearn entering the US market was the fact that HBO had just closed shop for boxing, TR agreed to provide content for ESPN, Showtime made an agreement with PBC. The networks were so lukewarm to boxing that Haymon had to do time buys just to get fights aired. I'm not sure Hearn could have picked up a network agreement at the time. Hearn signed on with DAZN and chirped the company line so long as they continued to dump money in the coffers.
PBC's time buy wasn't enough to end the PPV option but at least Haymon was able to secure a paying deal with FOX. Let's hope he can keep PBC on network TV in the future. Hopefully TR continues to maintain their deal with ESPN. So long as Espinoza is with Showtime, I think they are committed to the sport.
