Let's be real here: Lopez has only a few options because he's not going to get the Taylor fight. Crawford and Taylor are inline to fight each other. Same promotor, on a similar schedule and both have said that they want to fight each other. Both are definitely wanting to fight each other next. Taylor vs Crawford is a bigger fight than Teofimo vs Taylor. Why? Because of the danger to both Crawford and Taylor, because of the history each have at the junior welterweight division, with both being undisputed. It's a MUCH bigger fight and Taylor has said he's not interested in the Lopez fight.

So that leaves Teofimo with several options: (1) Fight Haney after their next coming fights, (2) rematch Lomachenko for a PPV fight (which is a much easier fight to make than one with Haney, Matchroom and DAZN) or (3) move to 140 and fight Prograis.

If he fights Prograis, we'll see what type of fighter Lopez is and whether he can hang with the "big boys." Personally, I would love to see a Haney fight or a Lomachenko fight. But with Haney, I just see that already being fraught with issues, especially with Bill Haney screaming "Let's do it on DAZN!!!" repeatedly. Arum, Top Rank and ESPN are not going to be down with that. No way.

TL;DR: Lopez has two realistic options: Rematch Lomachenko or fight at 140 against Regis Prograis.

Context matters here: Rolly and Fury are cherrypicks. Retrospectively. Tank is much more skilled than Rolly and has KO power. Fury was a drug addicted, couch potato. Haney and Lopez don't fall into those categories. I think Haney is a very dangerous fight for Teofimo. I'm in the minority here, thinking that, but I do think that Haney will give Lopez fits. Lopez would have to KO Haney to win that fight, IMO

I'm just talking about the idea that ringside spats don't turn into fights. Sure they do. All the time.

Problem is they don't happen enough.

Tank and Haney should have fought long ago. My thread about marinating fights was from 5 years ago and I had them on there because they started beefing.

LOL Yeah. Boxing is a bit of a joke now. These guys on Twitter, boxing with their keyboards or doing this WWE bull****, ringside at these fights; it's just a joke. Almost everyone watching that **** between Haney and Lopez rolled their eyes. We were all like "here we go again." I remember Lopez saying he sent a contract to Haney right before he fought Lomachenko. Then Haney denied it. Then there was supposed to be a meeting with Top Rank. The Haneys denied it.

When these guys can't be honest with each other because they're so worried about public appearance, it's just cringe. They should just create a persona and take it to the WWE at this point.

Is Crawford guaranteed to still be with Arum after the Porter fight? Has there been an extension or is there rumor there will be an extension? If Crawford was to leave Top Rank, perhaps a Lopez and Taylor fight after they dispense with Kambosos and Catterall?

Yeah. I think you're right, from what Arum has said. This will be Crawford's last fight with Top Rank. However, Arum said that going by a fight to fight basis, rather than being locked in, is how he used to work with fighters. I think the landscape is changing, however. He might resign with Arum, and if he doesn't, I don't think it changes anything for Crawford, who will be operating as a "free agent," so to speak. It would only be an issue if he goes and sings with the PBC, Matchroom or Golden Boy. As long as he operates as a free agent, this should be an easy fight to make and shouldn't change anything (hypothetically).

The negotiations are so hard to make fights that fighters don't want to lose their belt and risk waiting 3-4 years to get another title shot
