Why Are People So Opposed to PPVs?

It’s just weird how the biggest events in the world can be non-PPV like the World Cup etc, but somehow boxing needs to be an expensive PPV. If you’re already paying a subscription then that should be enough.

The price and quality of the cards are why people complain. We get sheeitier cards at higher prices anymore.

Because PPVs use to cost half as much and come with stacked cards, and there was almost always going to be a great fight on the card. Also... they throw garbage fights on PPV that would have never been PPV before.

Because the most any fight is worth to me is about $20. Otherwise I will just watch it the next day and check for updates during the actual fight.

Bingo! You are not any less of a fan if you pass on a certain PPV. Buy what you want to and don't buy what you don't want to. If you don't want to purchase any of them? No problem, try finding a stream or in most cases you can wait a week to watch it. Heck, in today's day and age, you can watch it later that night or early in the morning as someone will upload it.

PPVs have always been needed to pay fighters what networks can't pay. No network was going to put up a 10M license fee for Crawford/Porter. If the PPV tanks? Then both fighters will return to ESPN/FOX/etc and their purse will be smaller.

Yeah, this is perfectly fine as well. Do you try to find streams or don't really do that? If not, you should try that. Some good streaming sites that air all the PPVs and just in general fights all over the world.

I've tried that before for some soccer games. I feel like every time I find a good site, the next time I go there it buffers like crazy.
Honestly it's never really been worth the trouble for me to try and find a fight stream. I caught bits and pieces of a few fights like that but it's hard with the buffering.

The fact that I can rewatch the whole thing the next day on Youtube in under an hour is hard to beat. Any other sport, and I could never find the replay and even if I did, it would be over 2 hours from start to finish.

And I get your situation. It was only after I was out of college and had a good paying job that I started to buy the PPVs. Ever since then, I purchase pretty much every PPV. For you, it does not make sense to buy all the PPVs or even most of them, but you can still watch the fights on streams. This isn't the 90s or the early 00s, almost all of these PPVs are streamed and available for the fans.

Yessir, when I'm out of medical school and making doctor money I probably won't complain much about PPV anymore. I have to say, I had people over for Fury-Wilder, casuals, some of whom it was the first fight card they've ever seen - and that fight, the first they really sat down and watched. If Canelo-Plant can follow it up, maybe I'll have converted some folks

Where do you live? Wouldn't mind having you over for a fight sometime and a few beers, it's rare I get to watch fights with another big fight fan.
