Is Wilder still the biggest puncher in history?

I think you misunderstand me, those people can box.
Wilder is hamstrung by the fact he couldnt box eggs. By definition he has to be up there. He just has to be.Comment

The only person I can compare Wilder to was a dude called Ezra Sellers who fought Carl Thompson and Johnny Nelson back to back. He couldnt box either. Touch of death power.Comment

But he landed on Fury almost 20 times despite his shortcomings as a boxer.
And one would think a guy with power would mark Fury's face up with that volume and level of impact.
So what happened?Comment

Just because he didn't knock out Fury doesn't mean that his right hand doesn't hit like a nuke. He's knocked out every other fighter he's ever fought. They can't all have glass jaws. It's just that Fury is tough as balls and has freakish powers of recovery. Even then Wilder has 4 knockdowns on him in 3 fights and none of them were flash knockdowns. While Wilder's not the only guy to have ever knocked him down he is the only guy who's ever hurt him in any significant way. Any other heavyweight that gets hit by Wilder the way Fury got hit by him in round 4 probably doesn't make it out of the round.Comment

Every proclaimed hardest puncher ever has hit opponents hard and flush without knocking them out cold. You don't hit every opponent as hard you can/want and fighters are not made out of paper mache, they fight for a living and can actually take hard punches to the face without getting knocked out. Boxing fans are simply not intelligent. Silly knee jerk reactions without thinking things through. Oh he hit that man and didn't KO him? He must not hit as hard as they say he does. Oh he got knocked out? He must have a glass chin instead of granite like they say. Oh he lost a fight? That must mean he was never good.Comment

Good point. He hits hard as heck with the right hand with his best shot. But if there’s all sorts of ways to analyze or write an algorithm. He may have one of the hardest rights but his average goes down since his hook is nowhere on the same level. I liked his jab to the body early, but it’s not like he has a devastating hook to the liver. Shavers had a nasty chopping right hand but that was by far his best shot. It was also nothing like Wilders long right, it travelled less distance and could surprise you as it dropped on you more than “bow and arrow” like wilders. Wilder hardest single punch is right up there. Further down as “best punchers” though.,Comment
