What did Wilder do in rounds 5-11 Nothing, he lost every round. The overhype is ridiculous of this fight.

I'm an AJ fan and have since Wilder 2, favoured Fury over him, just. He is on the slide a bit and I blame him and his trainer for being less aggressive.

Still only just as technically, boxing wise he is still levels above Wilder.

Fury didn't have the greatest outing, perhaps that makes it all the more impressive, if his next fights he does.

You take a huge dive from forum posters and casuals after a loss, and a huge goat exaggerations after a win. It's just what happens. Fury could easily have a couple losses on his record, just as AJ does, and Wilder should.

I'd probably take this over AJ/Wlad, but its been a while since ive watched the latter. To play devils advocate though, AJ/Wlad had the stadium atmosphere, a similar amount of volume, was much more evenly contested and both guys were in shape.

AJ sells out UK stadiums to casuals, which is fine, but he made one appearance in USA and got flattened. His fights don’t really move the needle outside of the UK either.

I think there’s always something more special about two top heavyweights fighting in Vegas in a great fight that crosses over into popular culture across the world. It was the biggest thing happening in the world at that time.

Fury and Wilder are bigger in the US, but Joshua is bigger practically everywhere else. Boxing is very fragmented these days, the US boxing scene is not on anywhere near the same scale it used to be from a commercial and international following perspective, if anything the UFC has more of a following internationally now than any particular domestic boxing scene. Although I do agree that Fury/Wilder was probably bigger than any AJ fights, but a fight between AJ/Fury would be much bigger still even if it took place in the UK.

Usyk is probably too small, but does have a chance. I could see him darting in and out for 12 rounds and winning a decision. Fury is probably too smart for him though.

Wilder is on another level to AJ though. I don't want anyone to act like AJ is better than him or even on his level. Wilder KO's AJ 9 times out of 10.

Wilder has fought two top HWs ever. One he beat (with difficulty), one he was destroyed by. How do you know that he wouldnt get wrecked by several other HWs too? personally I think if he'd have faced the guys AJ has he'd have 4-5 losses on his record now. Usyk would beat him too, Wlad would have KO'd him, and between Whyte, Parker, Povetkin and Ruiz he probably picks up at least one loss. You're essentially trying to give him credit for the fact that he was simply present in the ring with the guy you perceive to be no1, even though he was completely dominated.

You're inflating AJ's wins, and diminishing Wilder's. End of story. Usyk and Wlad may have beaten Wilder. None of those other guys would have been given more than a small chance.

I think AJ would have the 2+ losses to Fury, plus I don't know if he beats Ortiz twice.

Besides, comparing their resumes is not the point. They are overall a similar level, but Wilder is the worst matchup for AJ style wise. It's very obvious.

It was a very good fight, arguably better than AJ/Wlad.

Neither of those fights should be in the running for greatest HW fight ever though. The overhyping of this fight is pretty weird, I think part of it is an attempt to save face for Wilder.

There is always overhyping of fights/fighters, good and bad, right after fights. It's always frustrating, I agree on that
