ward is on video punching kovalev 5 times in the balls in slow motion replay. on what planet is that not cheating? his entire win is based on a cheat.Comment

"Career SMW", just means Ward spent most of his career at 168 pounds, not necessarily that he fought every fight at that weight.Comment

Canelo haters trying to justify Ward now when they were instigating SOG vs Canelo. Lol
dont worry girls! Ward might still want to fight Canelo. If glue accepts, don’t cry that Ward acceptedComment

This was primarily sparked by butt hurt canelo fans because when Ward was asked about canelo beating Kovalev, Ward rightfully stated that Kovalev was no longer the “Krusher” and clearly wasn’t the same fighter that he faced. Obviously he was saying the truth which bothered canelo fans. That combined with Ward helping Plant also has Canelo fans all worked up because god forbid anyone support the opponent of the man they idolize. It’s like religious fanatics believing someone is disrespecting the god that they pray to nightly.Last edited by joseph5620; 09-19-2021, 01:04 PM.Comment

droopy eyes ward retired at 33 when he realized canelo was a real threat. canelo just fought at 164 that year and ward knew it was time to retire to avoid the inevitable ass beating. he could have came back at any time for a career high payday with canelo but he knew better.Comment

I do not believe that Ward has a beef with Canelo. I think the boxing world is trying to conjure up something to force Ward out of retirement and into the ring with Canelo. I like both fighters. I also believe that Ward is too old and too far removed from boxing to want to return to the ring. However, if he were forced to un-retire, Canelo would have his hands full. Ward is no 58 year old Holyfield.Comment

Well done Andre Ward!! And of course true to form those very same internet, uninspired en****** are proving the man correct, what with the ignorant and lacking in Intelligence/ maturity comments being posted here.
The internet and YouTube in particular ALWAYS loses because at least 90 percent of the commentary posted there is steeped in bias, cultural bigotry, this new phenomenon called Fanboyism and plain core ignorance.
Ward not once in this article spoke negatively of Canelo. He accorded him the utmost professional courtesy and spoke like a true sportsman.
He kept it neutral and with the manner of professionalism you come to expect of the more elite competitors.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the so called" fans" today of the sport who just lack the proper maturity and Intellectual capability to assess a situation like previous generations minus emotional investment.
Ward is an undefeated former champion who beat the BEST of his day( won handily the Super 6 tournament)and fought Sergey Kovalev when the Russian power house was at his peak and won handily in their rematch. It wasn't low blows that did in Sergey. It was an high IQ fighter who gradually broke down his body, counterpunching with precision and caught a weakening Kovalev with a hummer of a nasty right counter that wobbled the Russian and put him on unsteady legs. Ward won the fight in the trenches in a good bout that exposed a VERY GOOD fighter in Kovalev who was vulnerable to body punches.
Canelo on the other hand chose to engage the old, weakening, end of the line version who was merely grateful for a big payday retirement package of sorts.
And NO, To say Ward Avoided Canelo is sheer ignorance at its core.
To the contrary It would seem the spotlight on that would be Canelo. After all he has sworn off CERTAIN fighters from the United States who are stylistically his kryptonite. Let's just say that since Mayweather and Lara CERTAIN Fighters of a specific group, style and category he has not engaged and he will likely not engage in the future. He knows who to choose who plays into his strengths. Ward certainly is one of those specific fighters he would never engage given WHO Ward is and the abilities he possessed in his fighting days.
