Crawford has always passed the eye test. You see the skill level and the dog in him as well. We just have never seen it against fighters on Porter’s level. That’s not discrediting Bud, that’s simply being honest. I can visualize Bud picking Shawn apart and outboxing him for 12 rounds. But, I can also see Shawn pouring on the heat and forcing Bud to fight at an uncomfortable pace. This will be a classic and that’s why we have been wanting to see Bud fight the best. I personally think Shawn is the hungrier fighter. Bud has said a few times that he is content with his resume and accomplishments and could retire right now. Porter wants that belt and more importantly that name on his resume. He is more ferocious as an underdog with a point to prove. I think Porter wins if it goes the distance. But that’s a big IF...Cobra Curry likes this.

Mikey Garcia was never a welterweight.
Danny Garcia turned down a fight with Crawford. When asked about it, his father told Crawford to stop bothering PBC fighters.
If Crawford fails your eye test that's cool, we'll just have to wait for this Porter fight to have our questions answered.
I think you're right about him losing his temper when hurt but no one's perfect.
Mikey Garcia was considered by almost all of the rating orgs to be a Top 5 welterweight. Blame his fans for bigging him up as a threat to Spence when logic dictated he wasn't.
But Mikey is actually a good point - Crawford isn't a legit welter either. That's why he's never been able to do to any of his 147 opponents what he did to Gamboa - the power didn't come up.
Remember though, Shawn Porter debuted at 154. He won a title at 154, like a third of his fights and 13 out of 17 of his knockouts and stoppages were when he was at 154. So he's a big welterweight like Spence. You're talking two comparatively big guys against someone who's basically a jr. welterweight. That's the thing nobody's talking about but should.
You know how I see this fight going?
Porter/Malignaggi. Minus the stoppage. I say it goes the distance, but I say Crawford will get all he can handle and will be seriously hurt against this guy.
Paulie at that time picked off at range and had great foot movement identical to what Crawford does. But just like Crawford, tended to lose his temper and get into wars unnecessarily; clipped in those exchanges just like Crawford, and Shawn Porter destroyed him with arguably his best overall performance.
Now, the thing is, the version of Porter that fought Spence was 3x the version that fought Paulie. The man is more dangerous now. He doesn't make nearly as many silly mistakes and he's smarter about accuracy, I also argue his chin is more solid than it was and he's a smarter boxer too, clearly evident in the shutout against Formella who WAS landing on him.
Last and most important: Porter has fought at the top level for YEARS. Wars for YEARS. And it's made him ready for the dance, that's experience with tough challenges. Crawford has not had a top level fight in at least 5 years - I frankly think his last real top level challenge was Ricky Burns - and Burns took him the full distance. No top level experience at 147 which has more dangerous people.
That's why I said Crawford should have taken Keef on first. Keef was off a loss, but still a threat, which would have given him big fight 147 experience. I think Porter will be too much.Last edited by Combat Talk Radio; 09-18-2021, 08:17 PM.

Crawford was televised twice refusing a Porter fight. He didn't want it and he didn't push Arum to make it happen.
Crawford re-signed with that same promoter because he didn't want smoke.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

I saw Crawford's interview with Teddy Atlas, he basically said that the reason he keeps letting Arum cuck him is out of loyalty. Nothing more. He COULD check Arum and get the big fights, but he doesn't push Arum to do it.

Problem is that you have alot of posters who speak it likes it's gospel (when it's not) to prove the truth of their belief. And that's all it is, a belief. An opinion. Telling me you're guy is going to win is like telling me Tyson beats Liston.
Until we get the two fighters in the ring, we can only say what we think will happen or who we think is better.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

Bud looks great fighting guys that are levels below him. This time we're going to see what Bud is made of for real.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

Time flies. Bud is 33 already. Prime years are basically gone. What a waste of a career.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

You just run your mouth based on your feelings, without any logic to back it up.
