If Crawford can’t draw, why did Shawn Porter take the B-side cut?

I mean, Porter isn't exactly PPV king. Whilst he's well known, isn't he always "the opponent"? Unless he's fighting a top 20+ guy.

It was Arum himself who openly complained how his company loses a lot of money on Crawford's fights. So if he loses a lot of money when Crawford fights on ESPN, how much will he lose on PPV?
wrong. ESPN cannot force Bob to do ANY fight. They can make their preference known, but thats it. Its up to Bob to decide if he wants the fight, and if he does then he would pitch ESPN and see how much they would pay to put it on the regular network. If it wasnt enough money to make it work, then Bob and ESPN would do it on PPV.......

IF arum was losing money on crawfords fight, and IF crawford is leaving top rank after this fight, then there would be no reason whatsoever for arum to do the fight. But thats alot of IFs......

            There’s a few reasons I think.

            1. Crawford is the champion.
            2. Porter wanted to make the fight and not allow Crawford to slip away and say that he priced himself out.
            3. Neither are PPV attractions, so Porter doesn’t have much leverage over the champion. He is not Floyd Mayweather or Canelo Alvarez.

With that said, this is irrelevant. What matters is that the fight got made. I did not even know about the financials of this fight until I read this thread. I did some digging and apparently they are splitting $10 million dollars in $6 million for Crawford and $4 million for Porter. But again, I am not sure why that matters.

All I can really think of this fight is that two top 5 welters are going to fight. That’s all I care about.

You punked out of a bet multiple times after making 1 of these dumb threads demanding someone bets you. Times must be hard in the halfway house/crackhouse these days huh?

It’s silly because none of them are big draws. So it’s amusing seeing topics of who is more popular. And $6million vs $4million is not a large disparity.

I'm talking about it would be up to ESPN in terms of putting up money, not forcing Arum to do a fight. Arum can't order them them to broadcast and spend money putting together a PPV card. If ESPN caved on offering a certain number that worked for Crawford-Porter and want to roll the dice on PPV..... ESPN did one PPV on their own with TR, Crawford-Khan, and they lost their ass on that fight.

The only guy in last 10 yrs to sell big regardless of who he fought was Floyd, the rest depends on who they fight its the matchup that sells.

There's still levels to selling. Crawford is a bigger draw than Porter period.
