I mean, Porter isn't exactly PPV king. Whilst he's well known, isn't he always "the opponent"? Unless he's fighting a top 20+ guy.

If Crawford can’t draw, why did Shawn Porter take the B-side cut?

It was Arum himself who openly complained how his company loses a lot of money on Crawford's fights. So if he loses a lot of money when Crawford fights on ESPN, how much will he lose on PPV?
IF arum was losing money on crawfords fight, and IF crawford is leaving top rank after this fight, then there would be no reason whatsoever for arum to do the fight. But thats alot of IFs......

There’s a few reasons I think.
1. Crawford is the champion.
2. Porter wanted to make the fight and not allow Crawford to slip away and say that he priced himself out.
3. Neither are PPV attractions, so Porter doesn’t have much leverage over the champion. He is not Floyd Mayweather or Canelo Alvarez.
With that said, this is irrelevant. What matters is that the fight got made. I did not even know about the financials of this fight until I read this thread. I did some digging and apparently they are splitting $10 million dollars in $6 million for Crawford and $4 million for Porter. But again, I am not sure why that matters.
All I can really think of this fight is that two top 5 welters are going to fight. That’s all I care about.buge likes this.

If it wasnt enough money to make it work, then Bob and ESPN would do it on PPV.......
