The whole thing is dumb anyway honestly. They're MMA fighters. not boxers. Jakes whole strategy is essentially train solely boxing for 3 years while having access to high level coaching and resources, then hand pick aging washed up guys with height/reach disadvantages from another combat sport to put his 3 years of boxing exclusive training vs their boxing, which is one facet of their game and has been adapted for an MMA context. Fighting them under boxing rules ie bigger gloves, shorter rounds, more ref involvement etc so its a more controllable environment, on events he ****ing co-promotes. And obviously by bringing in these UFC guys he gets to fight well known names, draw attention from the MMA fanbase as well and get some boxing fans who just dislike MMA on his side, rather than facing some no name C level boxer who would beat him. Its both genius and infuriating tbh.
