I mean...it does make them exactly that, but I do agree with your overall point. Canelo would lose to probably every UFC level fighter at his weight, but at the same time judging him by his own merits in his own arena relative to MMA fighters in theirs, the only active MMA fighter i'd put on the same level is Jon Jones. There hasnt been an SRL or a Duran in MMA yet, but its a young sport.

Dont you think its kind of harsh to judge the hands of MMA fighters, when boxers dont even do 90% of the **** MMA fighters do AT ALL? i'm sure Canelos guard passes aint too great either.
How much does it really matter if someones boxing is relatively poor if the rest of their skillset makes it so they dont need to box with you in the first place?
Its apples to oranges. Boxing has bigger gloves, ref counts and its pretty much tunnel vision compared to MMA in terms of the target area and the weapons used. All of that makes it much harder for someone to land a hail Mary out of nowhere and score an upset. The difference is, a pure boxer cannot recreate what Mercer did at will, its punchers chance which isnt going to work out the vast majority of the time.
Ok simple question - if there was a card where 10 top MMA fighters fought 10 top boxers of comparable size, under a ruleset that allows both sides to use all of their skills (well...MMA rules allow that already)...what do you think the final score would be?Comment

*Thinks combos, footwork and head movement dont exist in any combat sport outside of boxing.
Well you certainly appear to know what you're talking about.Comment

Jake Paul wears boxing gloves, but he isn’t a fighter. He’s a gimmick. If he went up through the ranks from the start….he wouldn’t be receiving all of this attention.Comment

“If he wants to be taken seriously now by the real media, I think he needs to fight a real fight.”
The real media?
Lol. What is the fake media?
I am sorry to have to break it to Dana White. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. There is no such thing as real or fake media.
ESPN, Boxingscene, The Athletic, TMZ, CBS, have all, and would in the future report Jake Paul fights.
There is no other media.
The media is the media.
Dana White talking out of his ass like always.Comment

Any skilled Boxer will absolutely wash any UFC fighter that tries to get in the squared circle under the Marques of Queensbury rule set. This includes Ngannou, Porier, Usman, Adasanya, etc. On the contrary, any skilled Boxer would get dismantled in the octagon under the MMA rule set.
The crossover fights are entertaining to say the least, but there is a reason why there is boxing and there is mma.
PS: Dana White is a piece of trash who should pay his fighters more!
MMA is a different preparation than Boxing. You might as well have some very well conditioned fight sport athlete compete with an Oarsman from Harvard... No one would think twice if the oarsman won a race by a good bit. Our weakness as human beings is our gift: We are learners and develop capacity through making mistakes, training and learning different skills and adapting them to our circumstances... Yet, we have no instinct to tell us "this is how you fight in a ring." LOL!! But it is pure folly to think training for either endeavor will bare fruit in the other...Comment

If I had to sum threads like this up: "Well I guess it depends what one trains for, as far as predicting how well one will do against an opponent from another discipline."
(a pause...............)
BUT Boxers are worse overall athletes!
BUT grapplers can only choke people!
And back we go to square one... (palm slap).
