Boxing is the greatest sport and boxing won again tonight. Nothing against UFC, but I just can’t enjoy it like I enjoy boxing. I think it’s all the rolling around on the canvas that turns me off.

I never really knew the Pauls. I only learned about the three-ring circus freak show because of the KSI v Logan Paul fight. Never heard of those clowns before. But I can also see the converse, were people have never heard of boxing before. But it seems to be as if the Paul brothers are just getting more popular. Personally, I think the PPV numbers are down because we are getting **** fights all the time. And judging by fights recently? ... no one really cared too much about the Ugas fight. I think viewership went down when Spence wasn't fighting anymore.

I don't know ... I can't see it hurting the sport. If Paul wasn't training and taking it seriously or just fighting homeless guys off the street, then sure. But he's fighting legit fighters now, and everyone is going to be dying to see him get KTFO after this fight. He's got a contract on him now. I'll be curious to see what the numbers were for the PPV buys.

If Jake Paul is a “boxer” then why wasn’t Paul vs Mayweather an official boxing match?

The context going the full rounds depends on the boxing output.

i think these guys should rematch because it definitely grabs more people to boxing. That’s always a plus.

though to Woodley’s credit I was very impressed for what he picked up with boxing and being able to catch/flick shots like a pro. The problem is that Pedro Diaz is not an offensive pressure trainer. Woodley doesn’t know how to cut off the ring or know distance in the square. There were plenty of times he had enough range to strike Paul on corner switch ups but instead would pull back or not know how to release the trigger. But there might be a small explanation for that, something that boxers CAN DO and would be impressed if Woodley could too or im just naive…

if by some miracle there is a rematch then this fight could’ve been rigged in that Woodley was given a bonus by Showtime to go easy on Paul. Meaning the numbers leading up to this fight were good in that Showtime presented an option…. Some of Woodley’s statements corroborate it too. There were just too many times were Woodley could’ve landed on Paul but chose to PULL BACK too many times. That was weird, and Woodley could take Paul’s power. I saw tape of Woodley in UFC and he knows how to fire crosses at long range.

so Woodley trying his best to say nothing would sell better than Woodley 2 etc, an experienced combat guy who seen numbers, I find a bit of suspect post promoting for a rematch.

in all I was impressed by the event.

Woodley has always been weird with his output though. He often just stands there with his back against the wall doing virtually nothing and then explodes for a few seconds then goes right back to doing nothing.

That fight one guy was contracted to make 160, the other to make 190. That is not what happened here with Paul and Woodley.

I don't care how bad one thinks Jake is, he's a boxer point blank. Tommy Fury is considered one and look at the crappy opponents he has fought in his first 7 fights.

It’s all showbizness man, particularly exhibitions. It makes no sense how the younger Paul Brother didn’t call out that other black Youtuber that beat Logan Paul.

it just doesn’t make sense. That black YouTuber beat Floyd’s Paul first. In theory little Paul brother vs Black YouTuber would’ve done the most PPV. The business side knows this. It’s just all silly games. That’s why it’s not far fetched for Showtime to have given an option to Woodley. If Paul was knocked out he might not have returned to boxing, costing Showtime future PPV losses. It’s proven that the Paul exhibitions sell, so they must protect them.

Anyone who wants to talk **** about style vs style fights should remember Ray Mercer. Dude knocked out a 2X UFC heavyweight champ in 9 seconds in a pro MMA fight, but he also got choked out by freaking Kimbo Slice.

I think the general rule is when facing opponents at equivalent levels in their respective sport - MMA fighters lose 100% of the time in boxing, boxers loses 90% of the time in MMA. The boxers usually look worse in their losses and the fights end quicker, but every now and then they will land something early Mercer/Tim style.
