Why were 90s heavyweights so muscular and able to block punches with their faces?

Mike Tyson had a great story during a time when America was looking for the next great HW after Ali retired and the machine pushed every envelope to make Tyson better than he actually was.

Context also matter and boxing was the biggest sport in the US back then. Hence Mike Tyson became the saviour. Time was perfect. And he had the story, flash and KO power.

They were just about to do the same with Wilder until Fury destroyed the party. If Wilder had sparked Fury in a highlight reel - the hype about Wilder right now would be nuts.

Most of you act like this is a weak and unskilled era with stuffs when that isn’t the case. Heavies in the 90s were actually stiffer and not as skilled if you look at it critically. The only edge they had was anabolic steroids due to lack of testing and EPOs increased their endurance hence they were able to block punches with their faces and recover quickly.

That was why 90s was much more fun for animalistic people who like the brutal nature of that era. Apart from that, this era is actually deeper and much more competitive.
You don’t have a point. Vitali lost to Byrd and one of them 90’s bums on Lennox. Wlad got kod by Purrity, a pt golfer in Sanders RIP and Brewster. Joshua got kod by a hoagie sandwich with fast hands. I don’t stand by what I said. I just exaggerated those losses like you did. Easy huh? I don’t know who’s using PEDs or who used them. I just ain’t crying that they did. You act like today’s guys are clean. You better take a look at who has been caught in and around your part of the world before you come out with your porous approach at criticism of the 90’s.

There’s regular testing today. If boxers were allowed to use anabolic steroids and EPOs today, with how big they’re, most of you won’t rate the 90s at all.

Even in the NBA - you have guys like Doncic, Giannis and Jokic now.

I don’t know why people hate the Chinese. These are people who have been able to create their own industrial revolution out of rubbles with no outside help and have bailed out global economy multiple times. An ancient civilization and great culture. I like reading about Chinese history (and Japanese as well). Great people.

They had EPO and they have whatever else is undetectible these days. They understand PEDS now better than ever before. There are also fighters older than 35 who are top 10 in the division than ever before. That used to be extremely rare in the 90s.

The 90s they were just running simple anabolic cycles that were created by bodybuilders. The point of PEDs isnt to produce giant muscles. The point is to produce PERFORMANCE. Bigger muscles are a side effect of anabolics and bodybuilders have specific ones they use depending if they are looking for more mass or to look more cut ect. Boxers are goign to take ones focusing on speed and endurance and they have more knowledge now than they did 25 years ago. They arent runnign the cycles they ran in the 90s because those are easily detectable and not for their sport.

WADA even drug tests ***ing billards players and archery competitors for blood pressure medication that could steady their hands and boost PERFORMANCE. those guys dont look like bodybuilders but they are taking PEDS.

None of them look like a natural look (AJ looks natural) and you can smell the PED from afar.

Take the PED out and most of these guys bar Lennox and Holyfield won't be competitive in today's era.
Evan Field sorry Holyfield is probably the most blatant juicer of all those heavyweights. Without the steroids it's unlikely he would have achieved what he did.
