What many don’t understand is why boxers do mitt work, or see how elites respond on the mitts. Twitch, intuition, ring IQ is what separates elites from non elites. Plant May look nice against non elites or no-names, and that’s because they’re not intuitive counter punchers or know what’s happening in those seconds. Whatever you like from Plant, expect a fighter like Canelo to read it at close range and counter. That’s when Plant feels that power and the game changes.

So why do boxers work on mitts?......and how does the way elites respond on mitts affect the outcome of this fight?

Mitt work and body Shields are the best forms for proximity and a way your coach evaluates your position and endurance. I have seen Canelo hit Reynoso throughout the years and he is now able to push Eddy off his feet. This is a good way to know Canelo’s core power and evolved technique.

Josh Kelly was one I kept an eye on. Great pedigree and Olympian. Then he met Avenisyan who is just as difficult as Uzcategui. Canelo is level above all of them including Plant…

Imagine if this were to happen? Canelo groupies better go and pray to the statue of him that they have in their living room because it’d be quite embarrassing to have worshipped and praised him to the extent that they do and then have him lose to a white boy from Tennessee. Agreed. But do you really think he:

A) Will stick with that throughout the fight (bound to get a lil gutsy and test his mettle)
B) Can stick with that for 12 full rounds (thats a long time to keep on the backfoot & bouncy)
C) Would still be able to earn a decision doing that?

Only if Plant runs, pot shots and hugs the entire fight. He is overrated, Beanvidez has challenged him many times, even insulting him but PBC and him donpt want to lose or his " momentum " will decrease immediatelly among his few fans. Plant is lucky to fight Canelo since his win by decision in a close fight vs Uzcategui, because he has fought three tomato cans in a row and has kept the belt hostage.

No, of course the PBC doesn't want Plant to lose. He is an undefeated white boy fighting on Fox appealing to a particular demographic. With Plant fighting Canelo; Then Perhaps, Fox pay-per-view can attract some of that crossover UFC/MMA audience.
