    RingTV's Tom Gray:

Every fight is different but your paramount criteria for scoring should always be clean effective punching. Pretty obvious. However, when you have a mauling, messy fight, like Pacquiao-Horn was, you need to look elsewhere and I default to ring generalship. In the early rounds; Horn’s lateral movement, broken rhythm, feints and angles were giving Pacquiao fits. Horn was controlling distance and I personally felt he was more effective in the first half. Pacquiao was at his best at long range but he got nothing done up-close. Horn punched with his free hand in clinches. Pacquiao didn’t. Horn went to the body. Pacquiao didn’t. Horn belabored his opponent against the ropes. Pacquiao didn’t. Did CompuBox credit Horn for roughing Pacquiao up and making a strong physical impression? You decide. And if you want to ***** that Horn was dirty, then go out and get some gardening done because boxing isn’t for you. This is full contact combat and you do what you have to do to win. The referee polices a fight, not a judge. You don’t penalize Horn because you think poor Manny is having a hard time. If we adopted that policy, Ricky Hatton would never have won a fight.
Which is the same thing I said night of the fight.

But of course, you people clapped loud and shouted that Chino was robbed by Floyd despite the same tactics.

And of course, you default to Compubox here, yet say it was wrong when Manny lost to Floyd and ignored it when it had Keef clearly outlanding Manny.

See, you guys are too transparent now. It's easy to expose your agenda. We're going to see it again with Spence - you won't give Spence any credit even if he does dominate, because you won't ever accept when Manny takes an L or should have.

I give massive credit to Horn. Plenty of underdogs try to avoid embarrassment whereas Horn gave everything for his one big chance.

He outworked Pacquiao in the first half of the fight. The ref let him get away with a lot in the fight so he kept on doing it.

People seem to think Horn should have boxed a pure fight against Pacquiao. We wouldn't still be talking about the fight if he did that.
Yeah...compubox sucks. Only been the standard of the sport for, 3 decades ?

        Think of a better way.

People would still be CRYING about how Pac bought the W if those ''silly numbers'' were reversed !

''So what he landed way more punches and was way more accurate. That's no way to score a fight (In Australia ).

Australia sent me a memo -
They score headbutts, head locks, elbows, swings and misses and blows to the biceps (for the home guy).

This was a very close fight, he showed Pacquiao absolutely no respect. Horn fought a very rough and mauling type of a fight used his size and youth to this advantage. He also has very awkward movement and punches. Also the fight is in Australia so he's getting the benefit on these close rounds. I can see Pacquiao winning or horn winning or even a draw, the fight was close.

Despite what people say about a robbery, it was a very close fight. I had it a draw and I am an elite scorer of fights. The decision of Horn winning close was fine. The ref wasn't great, but a great boxer has to be able to adapt to what the referee allows and what he doesn't.

If Jeff Horn was Mike Tyson, people would be saying that this was the final fight of prime Jeff Horn, and when he lost to Crawford, and further losses, he was past prime, living the wrong life, wrong trainer, ****ing Asians, but because it's just Jeff Horn from Australia, he's just rubbish. The important part is Horn's ''greatness'' only extended to beating Mundine !!!

Compubox isn't the standard of the sport. Who told you that?

It's a bit of a stat site. A bit of fun. One person's opinion of what landed and what didn't.

No, it's absolutely no way to score a fight.

Why am I even debating this with someone on a boxing forum?
