If Shawn Porter beat Terence Crawford, no one would put him in the same conversation with Roberto Duran.

I’m not sure how you got there.

So, if and when Porter gives Crawford that business, I want you all to pay homage to your new ATG. The only guy who could beat this P4P fighter.

Which would then put him on the same pedestal as Duran.

Unfortunately, this dude is ignoring the key point - which he just repeated for me (thank you) - overhyping Crawford, which then overhypes whoever beats him. That's the problem!

Porter would be a handful for most atg wws,(not saying he'd win,but hes never been blown out by anyone & hes a stocky lil bobcat bulldozer.)

& hes faced the best who Bud would be blown for fighting by espn/msm.( with banana flavored lipbalm, you know its true)

If Porter beats Bud & is a gatekeeper, then that means Buds a hypejob ww?

I love Porter and he is the best gate keeper out there. Unfortunately hes small for the weight class. He also has shorter arms but he knows how to make up for it. Hes a nightmare for any welterweight.

Which means you're throwing around P4P without it meaning a damn thing, because how is it possible that in your mind, a P4P fighter isn't close to being an ATG?

I'll tell you what's going on here.

What you REALLY mean is that in your opinion, you think Crawford is a great fighter. You don't think he's P4P - either that or you don't understand what P4P really is supposed to mean, and so you're throwing it around without respecting what it's supposed to stand for.

Lost to Brook, Thurman, Spence, basically lost to every elite Welter of his era, and goes life and death with Ugas, yet he’s on the verge of being an ATG?

Saying “if” he beats Bud he’s an ATG is ****** because he hasn’t done it yet (and he won’t).

          OP is a moron.

I don’t get you people. Porters no where near a gatekeeper. He’s much better than that. He’s a former world champion and is competitive at the highest level.

Has he ever gotten beat up? Has he ever lost WIDE. Was he ever consistently outboxed and outclassed? I’ll answer you. NO!

Idk how anyone who’s a fan of the sport can really hate a guy like Porter. He’s a throwback boxer. Yeah his style is ugly, but it’s effective and it works for him. You need to be ugly and physical when you’re short for your weightclass.

Oh, and he’s always in exciting fights.

He’s not ATG status, but he’s 2 big wins away from HOF status.

Pound for pound is also relative to the rest of the field of boxers. You can be P4P off of accomplishments, reign, eye test, and resume. For me, I place resume and eye test very high along with how the fighters would match up all being equal size. Personally, Canelo is my number 1 P4P because he rates high on resume and eye test but I also think skill for skill, Crawford is higher.

Also, in case you missed it, all of this is subjective. Hell, boxing foundationally as it judges it's fights are subjective. Not sure what absolutes you're trying to think in terms of.

He beat the likes of Quartey, Trinidad, and Mosley and Shane was in his absolute prime for both fights (although 154 was not his weight class, clearly).

Porter may be a 2-time WW champion but so is Antonio Margarito Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, and Victor Ortiz. Does that mean Margarito, Collazo, Berto, and Victor Ortiz are ATG because they were 2-time WW champs? GTFOH scrub

Porter beat Danny Garcia in a close fight, got a gift win against Ugas, beat...Granados...Berto...Broner...who?? Who are we even talking about? Granados and Broner were effective at 135/140 NOT 147. Berto was OLD AF when the Porter fight happened and way past prime.

Porter lost every meaningful fight again Brook, Thurman, and Spence. The dude is far from ATG and has no realistic path to that accomplishment.

                  On Winky:

Personally I don't rate Winky highly. Mosley was NEVER effective at 154 and both those fights were very close. Winky beat an OLD AF Trinidad and an OLD AF Quartey. When Winky stopped fighting old fighters...literally Quartey's last fight and Trinidad's 2nd last fight...he lost to Williams and Quillin as well as an OLD AF BHop. Great champ but not ATG for me
Margarito might be crude and unskilled but Margarito was tough as hell and kept coming.

What he lacked in skills he made up for in size and work rate.

Marg is not as bad as ppl think. Ppl are too caught up in boxing skills. Remember marg beat down a prime cotto who had superior boxing skills.

Margarito probably beats porter and Garcia and crawford and them.

Kell Brook completely outboxed and outclassed Shawn Porter.
