Porters on the verge of ATGreatness. Why is he still called a gatekeeper,bum,etc.?

Porter is a top 10 welterweight. That’s all he is.

That’s all I wanted to know. I just saw Porter getting a lot of flack in this thread and I think it’s unjust to him and his body of work.

He’s nowhere near dominant enough to be considered ATG, but in most or all of his losses, he remained competitive. The Thurman bout could’ve gone his way. The bout against Spence was close. The KD was the deciding factor.

And I don’t even give him a hard time losing to Brook. There’s no shame in that. He lost to an undefeated Kell Brook. Despite what a lot of people think about him, Brook is a supremely gifted boxer. He was winning rds against GGG up until he started getting busted up. He was boxing well against Spence and was competitive, until again, he started getting busted up, and even against Crawford, he was boxing fairly decent until he got caught.

Brook is a solid boxer, probably better than he gets credit for. He just doesn’t have the durability to hang with big hitters.

I just don’t think Porter gets the recognition he deserves is all. I don’t think he’ll ever be ATG, but I think if he gets 1, maybe 2 more big wins, he can be in the conversation for HOF.

I mean say what you want about his hands and what he did to them, but you have to admit, the guy could just walk through anything and keep going. Doesn’t make him great or anything, but I think you can hit the guy across the head with a sledgehammer, and he would smile and laugh at you. The sh#t’s scary.

cotto-marg 2 looked exactly like the 1st fight except pac had broken marg face and caused the 2nd fight to be stopped.

Cotto Marg 2 looked SIMILAR to 1st fight except Cotto's face wasn't getting busted up. Margs was pressuring like he does but he wasn't really doing damage.

Was very happy Cotto got to beat on that blind man's eye after what he did
