Last but not least, who showed the better ring generalship in the championship rounds of a close fight? Exactly, you already know who that was.
A draw was fair.
“but compare their faces after the fight doe!”

IMO Castano pulled out a 1 point win, but it was indeed a tough back and forth fight with both men scoring well throughout.
Having said that... idiot (and paid off?) judge Nelson Vazquez needs to be permanently banned from the sport.
No excuse for that b.s. happening, especially in a high stakes fight like this one.
That type thing doesn't help the sport one bit.greeneye99 likes this.

Charlo, despite having a pretty good resume and being a unified champion, has some clear limitations that he can't seem to fix and he's turning more and more into someone who's looking for 1 big punch, 90%of the time it's the left hook on the inside, to end the fight. His offense is pretty predictable and he struggles to land on anyone with decent defense (guard or head movement) so he always has issues winning rounds unless he lands something big and hurts his opponent. He's also trying too hard with the defensive stuff which clearly isn't his style and it almost cost him his belts.
Castaño is a hard style for anyone though because he's a come forward guy who's hard to hit but he can be hurt, so if Charlo finds a way to use his jab and to work better off of it to be a little less predictable, keep the fight at the center, and catch Castaño with one of the big counter hooks on the inside, he can win clearly in the rematch.

I believe in the 2nd round Castano landed 2 left hook combinations. The ropes kept
Charlo from falling. I was expecting ref to consider it a knock down and give Charlo a
10 count. I will have to play first few rounds again.
Charlo didn't seem to eager for rematch or may have been on auto pilot repeating his
usual lines giving praise to his team. His ears probably still ringing. Charlo did tell
Jim Gray this was a different kind of fight.
Charlo did show a champions heart in last 3 rounds to avoid a disaster.

Both fighters put their belts on the line and sought out the most dangerous opponent and produced a great fight with high drama. They should be applauded, the only one that deserves anger is Vasquez who turned in a dreadful card.

I had castano winning a close fight. Charlo made this a “draw” by refusing to come forward until the last 3-4 rounds. He coasted the first half of the fight and allowed the guy to push him back and his defense isn’t tight enough for that. He has to take advantage of his athleticism and power earlier and especially against smaller guys. Rematch is needed.
