Totally neglected the check left hook and the uppercut and forgot the body existed. Just a real odd performance for Charlo, a true case of fighting down to his opponents level
I don't want to discredit Castaño. He possibly beat Lara prior to this and has a pretty good amateur background. Maybe Mell couldn't get up for him based on name alone? If so, silly him lol.Oldskoolg likes this.

Sure will will heve its mistakes here and there but it will be easier to swallow.

Was a close fight I thought Mell came back to justify a draw but he gave away a lot of the middle rounds where it seemed he was losing his composure. Castano missed a lot of shots especially on the ropes Jermell slipped and rolled with a lot of them and if you watch it again you will see what I'm referring to. Castano hurt him for sure in the 3rd but Charlo hurt him in the 2nd, 9th, and 10th round bad and the entire momentum of the fight changed from that point forward. If Charlo would've just had him on the backfoot and threw more uppercuts he would've had him out of there its like his uppercut was nonexistent for the majority of the fight. Was a good fight between 2 champions both worthy competitors and the rematch definitely has to happen soon. That draw is fine for me both fought hard and showed their abilities I don't mind see it again Charlo has already beat most of the top 10's at this point anyways and Castano proved to be his toughest test to date and even showed if you can get Charlo to the ropes he's not as comfortable as he is in the center of the ring,

the reason he couldnt land the uppercut is the same reason GGG didn’t attack Canelo’s body...because he was getting punched in the face. It’s just that simple. He couldn’t. Mell was completely helpless in spots and visibly frustrated.
I’m super impressed with Castano here. I wasn’t sure he’d be able to overwhelm Mell like he has everyone else but he’s *seriously* skilled. Not even sure he’d win a rematch as Mell has a lot to work with with that size advantage and skills, but this last fight...there isn’t a way Charlo won that fight. Not even by one. It was competitive but it was VERY clear and this is for all intents and purposes a blatant robbery. 8-4 type fight and if youre extra extra generous with the hint of bias, 7-5.
