Possibly the dumbest comment ever. Do you really think more people would pay to watch Gervonta Davis at $75 on Fox PPV than on DAZN for a $20 one month subscription?

I don't think there is one right or wrong way of doing things. For some fighters the PPV may work, if they are confident they, their opponent and the promotion can bring the viewers and revenue. For others, they may prefer the guaranteed money that is offered for non-PPV.

I don't buy many PPVs but if there is a compelling main event and good undercard, I have no issue. I last ordered the Charlo co-feature and thoroughly enjoyed the card and probably would have ponied up for the Fury Wilder fight with it's all HW undercard.

        It’s “better exposure”?” lol
Why don't you convince Golden Boy to go out of business? They need to close up shop as quickly as possible. They have lost their cash cow in Canelo Alvarez.

Boxing needs this as a dying sport. But Mcgregor-Poirier just did nearly 2mil PPV buys and I hear they were doing great during peak Covid prior to that.

Boxing is without a doubt more popular than MMA and they didn’t do 2M buys. All these streaming and tech companies are investing in boxing not mma. The fighters didn’t even earn 10M combined for UFC 264. UFC spends multi millions on promotion that’s why the fighters don’t get paid.
The UFC is in deep debt and I don’t know how much longer they’ll last. If boxing received a 3Billion dollar loan we’d definitely be crushing MMA even more.

DAZN will go bankrupt at some point, they overpaid fighters

streams have become a problem and the PPV price has always been too high. a lot of people are anti social now days. everyone at work was talking about the mcgreggor fight but instead of having a party and everyone paying 10 bucks, everyone was going to just go home and stream it themselves.

And to add that UFC had famously had problems with their paid streams dropping out, who in their right mind is goign to drop 80 dollars or whatever when there is a good chance that stream acts up, might as well just get a "free" stream.

If they priced the PPV at 20 bucks and it was reliable then people would probably pay 20 dollars to watch it and know they wont have to worry about it freezing or dropping out.

If Hearn truly believes Canelo is a massive draw then his thought goes both ways. Massive PPV sales creates massive dollars for the fighters. I personally dont care what platform they fight on as long as they fight.

Asshole! Open your ears and your common fucking sense. I said as a fighter; Not as a fucking boxing fan. I would much rather fight on linear television PPV because of the limitless amount of revenue streams; Especially if I've signed for a percentage of the fight's gross revenue.

I never once said that online streaming was bad for the boxing fan. What kind of asinine ****** shit is that? DAZN is like a Christmas present to me as a boxing fan because I love boxing.

However for the casual fan who don't watch the sport boxing it can be a curse for the unknown fighter with a limited amount of television exposure.

It would be very hard for those fighters to build a fanbase or an audience that way by fighting exclusively underground on the world wide web. It's difficult to grow the sport of boxing that way.

Selling advertisements is how network and cable television recover their licensing fees from live boxing events.
