Hold on there thunder…..I didn’t mention slave contracts at all. The most money, since you seem to be arguing as if you’re a boxer and it’s your money, will always be made by means of no cap and that’s what PPV offers.

It that's the case then the fight should be on PPV. But let's hear the offers to be certain, Hearn recently had his coffers refilled and could surprise.

And under no circumstances should Canelo be forced to sign a long term deal to get the Caleb Plant fight even if it is on FOX or Showtime PPV.

Don't like to get in the political side of boxing, but here is my take of what the problems in negotiations are:
          • Haymon wants Canelo to fight Plant on Fox PPV
          • Haymon wants Canelo to commit to a multi fight deal which makes logical sense because he knows Canelo will most probably beat Plant and he wants Canelo to make money for FOX and match Canelo with his PBC fighters so they get well paid too.
          • I'm confident DAZN is putting more money than FOX, however Haymon will advise Plant not to take the fight.
          • Canelo said he would never ever commit to a multi fight deal because he likes his freedom.

Hipothesis: If Haymon was optimistic about Plant beating Canelo, he would have no problem letting him fight for DAZN as Plant would come back to FOX with the 4 belts and to be matched with Benavidez, Charlo, Morrell and probably other pbc guys like Dirrell.

Knew from last December that Haymon would try to sign Canelo to a multifight deal when I knew the plan was offering him: Dirrell, Charlo and Plant in a 3 fight package. I don't know if things will get sorted out but as I'm looking now. this 168 unification won't happen, at least for this year. Call me crazy, but at this pace Canelo might be going to 175 to try to be unddisputed there.

Damn you boxing! I hate you when you do things like this.

Tough decision for clenelo. PBC will not overpay but they have 2 fattened up no hopers in Plant and Charlo ready to be slaughtered. DAZN will overpay and guarantee 35 mil a fight but they are running low on no hoper bums.

So who really has the leverage?

This is a idiotic statement...Alvarez is the A-side, Plant is not. Alvarez has 3 of the 4 belts, at the very least he is the unified champion and while he would like to have the 4th belt, he could walk away and continue his boxing career as one of the cash cows of boxing, filling out arenas and is a lock for the HOF without the last belt. Fans would rather see Alvarez fight Benavediz, Beterbiev, Andrade, Charlo or Spence anyway...if Plant didn't have that belt, no one would be clamoring for that fight.

Plant needs him for the payday (he will NOT get 10 million fighting anyone else) and the other 3 straps. Plant needs Alvarez, not the other way around.

Yea just ask the 500 boxers who sued TR to get out of their contract, then ask the ZERO boxers who sued Al Haymon. It's funny how all the boxers love Al Haymon but 'certain' fans dont. Just ask Conor Mcgregor how much he loves Uncle Al for helping to sponsor that whiskey deal which is doing very well right now!

About the most level-headed and unbiased assessment of what the situation is. I don't think Plant fears Canelo, he wants to get paid accordingly. Haymon wants to make sure he gets the most return for the likely loss of Plant's title with a multi-fight deal with Canelo. DAZN is probably ponying up the most guaranteed money and Canelo also unwilling to commit to a multi-fight deal after his issues with GBP. I understand why each party is acting in the way they are but I don't have to like it.

Yes and no. Pay Per View has the potential to generate the most money for a fighter but its not necessarily guaranteed. If the payout relies on a percentage of PPV sales, then you are relying on you and your opponent's ability to sell the fight as well as the promotional banner and network to promote the fight effectively. The only numbers that really matter in most contracts is the guaranteed money, everything else is a gamble.

From what I understand, Hearn advises/promotes Canelo on a series of fight-by-fight deals. Canelo obviously leery of long-term deals after his issues with GBP. The deal works for both sides because Hearn gets the revenue and, more importantly, the clout of promoting someone of Canelo's status (and we all know Eddie likes to be in the headlines). Canelo seems fairly satisfied with the arrangement.
