Only a matter of time until he gets the big names but first business is beating Ryder. If he does that? Then he's going to be just fine.
That fight was scheduled, nobody knows why fell through. And the press didn't mentioned it

Even if we assumed that David went 130 and 10 or something it wouldn't give us any reason to question that he was an exceptional amateur, nor cast doubt upon his potential ceiling as apro... kid appears to be a phenomenon so far, although he's hardly fought top opposition, the Ryder fight should tell us a great deal.

Yeah its just their teams promoting them a little. I don't think a lot of these cubans even know their exact records tbh
They're fighting so often and in tournaments etc its just another day in the office.
Even if they have a dozen losses or more, it often means little with the Cubans, most of those losses could have came vs Cruz or an Erislandy Savon or someone & besides he is still a kid now really.

I think Ryder is a good fight, he's only had 4-5 pro fights and is making guys that should normally be testing good prospects look like they've never boxed before.

Yep, who cares how many total losses he has in the amateurs. He's looking good in the pro ranks and I can't wait for the Ryder fight.

As mentioned already, the fact he came at such a young age makes him different than most Cubans defecting to America. Should be a fun ride for as long as it lasts!

I think he can do some damage for a long time. Of course barring any injury and keeping his focus. Stay safe
He did not lose to Cruz in my opinion. I watched the fight and I think he won it. This was right after his youth world championship. The Canadian if I remember correctly was pretty much battered. He was embarassed to be declared the winner. Cruz also looked embarassed after he was given the victory over Morrel. This kid is the real deal. People talk about Benavidez and Plant. This guy beats them now. In a couple of years he batters them.

The fact less than half of his amateur fights are accounted for and he already has 5 losses there tells me he in fact very likely has a good few more losses.
I seriously doubt he started out in the Cuban amateur system at 83-0 with taking an L, that simply isn't happening.

Great prospect, top amateur but his amateur record is being exaggerated.
He won the youth world championship and was given the award as the best boxer in the tournanent. He pretty much ran over everybody. A year later was doing the sane in the nationals for seniors in Cuba until he faced Julio Cezar La Cruz and they gave the fight to Cruz who is a 4 times world champ. That's probably why he left the island.
Speaking of unfair treatment in Cuba, Frank Sanches destroyed Erislandy Savin in the nationals in Cuba at 91kg. They gave him the victory cause he dropped Savon a number of times and beat him up, yet the still didn't put him on the national team ao he fled.

I didn't know who he was until I read the news, about him defecting. I don't know why there's so much hate for Cuban boxers. Am not talking about the amateur record. If they knew how much trouble every Cuban athlete has to go through, just for a chance of being free. Just for that, everyone should be rooting for them. Instead, "high risk low reward". That's the best the haters can come up with. Stay safe.

You might be right. I know of a lot of Cubans that had come up on top. Write down these names. Yoelvis Gomez, Bruzon, William Scull, Robeisy Ramirez, Ariel Perez, Pero, Matellon, Joahnys Argilagos and Jailer Lopez and Jorgito Romero. I'll predict a least five of the will be Champs on the near future.
