People have a hard time differentiating 147 mayorga and above.....Even out of shape and taking shots for fun, he strill was able to drop Trinidad as well......

I Had shot Mayorga pretty much going back and forth with Prime cotto, and shopworn Mosley(felt he was easily boxing Shane head off before he laid down)

Plus he has victories over vargas....Definite A/B level fighter
Clinton Mitchell beat Hopkins, that automatically makes him a A level fighter, I don't think this is how things work, Mayorga was always a very fun fighter, but the guy lost to a lot of unknown Joses and Pedros, He was never a high IQ boxer, he wasn't , is or ever will be a Hall of Famer, If Alvarez beats Plant, Charlo and Benavidez in the next years or goes up to beat Beterbiev or Bivol he automatically will be ATG status.

    Just being honest.

I agree with this. Oscar would have definitely beat Canelo. Obviously, right now Canelo beats him because Oscar is older. This guy talking about Oscar this and Oscar that, clearly just hates ODH. But from an unbiased point of view Oscar in his prime beats Canelo. Today's boxing is full of BS with champions picking who to fight and basically running the show to their advantage. Back in the day we saw the best fight the best. Not this BS that is happening now.

Oscar never did anything great above welterweight, here is a list of his wins above 147:
          • Castillejo
          • Vargas
          • Campas
          • Sturm
          • Mayorga
          • Forbes
Now, if you telling me that any of these guys on the list would've beat one of the best MW's all time, I htink you need to really take a deep breath and reflect on what you just said, calling GGG a caveman is not gonna make you look good when talking to someone who knows boxing, I bet you tell that to a trainer or a fighter and they will make fun at you.

Oscar wouldn't ever and I say this with confidence as a great Oscar fan because he was a monster LW and WW, Oscar wouldn't ever on his worse day would box the ish out of Canelo.

Hyphotetical matchup would've been at 154-160, at 154 it might've been a close fight but I think Alvarez IQ and slickness would've nullified him, at 160 I don't see how Oscar beats Alvrez, I just can't visualize it.

that doesnt make any sense, oscar's prime was somewhere between lightweight and welter. also, all of oscar's top names came from the lower divisions (genaro, jcc, pernell, ike quartey) once he fought at welter or higher is where he couldnt beat the top guys in shane, felix, and bernard. so how is it that besides all that oscar can somehow beat canelo?

Obviously Canelo has a better career than Mayorga did but I will say this, Mayorga knocking out a prime undefeated Vernon Forrest is more impressive than any Canelo win because it was a definitive win against a top fighter in his prime with no judging controversy, and Mayorga definitely faced better opposition closer to their primes than Canelo has (Forrest, Trinidad, Oscar, Mosley, and Cotto). I won’t include Fernando Vargas as it was his last fight.
