Trust me, you think Mayweather is happy that everyone is throwing Pacquiao's name in his face? You think Mayweather is happy with people constantly bringing up the fact that Pacquiao beat Mayweather's last two opponents alot easier? I know it sounds like some little kid **** but that is the truth.

so can't he just fight pac? i highly doubt anyone would be saying you gotta fight a lightweight if he was fighting pac or mosley.

I'd have more respect for him if he came back and stormed the WW division and made Pac come to him instead of always chasing the money.

I know your opinion differs from mine, but I still respect it. These things drive me crazy though.
Just remember, Mayweather has two options after Marquez. Winner of Pacquiao vs Cotto or SSM, these are legacy enhancing fights.

As sad and petty as it is, it is probably true why else would Floyd announce the fight with JMM on the same day as Pac/Hatton?

well he had to announce a fight before pac beat hatton otherwise people would demand for him to fight pac. this way he could say oops i already got a fight scheduled. he started panicking and just by sheer luck found some mexican guy at the bus station and asked "do you wanna fight me?" and just a coincidence it was marquez.

My problem is that this has been going on for a few years now. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I think Floyd is the best at 147, but he still has to make the tough fights. Marquez is a great fighter, but he's done nothing as a welterweight. Pac will add to his legacy, but it will add more to his bank account. I think beating the top 3 or 4 welters cements his greatness, but it doesn't put as much chedda in ther bank. Jmo.

Not only did he fight him but he fought him twice and what were the numbers for those fights? Thats how you judge who is bigger. You cant just go fight for fight because we all know that Pac-Cotto is a bigger fight than Floyd-JMM. Even the most die hard fan would admit that. The fact is that no matter what Floyd-JMM does, it will definatly own what Pac-JMM did and I bet that it atleast beats in one fight what they did in 2 fights.

It would be a stretch to compare Marquez vs pac II against Marquez vs floyd

First the pac second fight against Marquez was pre oscar fame. You can check floyds ppv numbers pre oscar fame to know a fight with oscar will change your career.

Secondly Marquez vs pac II did not have the marketing support of 24/7

There is a reason why cotto vs pac is viewed as the bigger fight than Marquez vs floyd.

That is because people actually believe it will be competitive and entertaining compared to what people believe Marquez fight against floyd will look like.

How both of the fight will actually play out is another thing but what people believe is what makes cotto vs pac a bigger event than Marquez vs floyd

                  correct me if i'm wrong.

but wasn't jmm-pac 2 the best selling ppv for 135 and under?

jmm-pac 2 was the best selling ppv under 147 up until pac-hatton too.

                  not too bad.

especially when pacquiao didn't have mainstream exposure yet in the u.s. at the time.

True but if Pacquiao can beat Cotto, then Pacquiao has established himself as an elite WW. SSM is a good opponent but my problem with that is, Shane is past and I see no point; although I wouldn't mind watching that.

It doesn't work that way. Sure it would be nice to compare their head to head numbers and think that is concrete who is the more popular fighter, but it's not. Pacquiao has gotten so much more popular since the Hatton fight. Even to the people who didn't pay for that fight, millions saw the fantastic KO.

Floyd on the other hand had 2.4 million people pay for the fight with De La Hoya, and very few came out saying "Wow!" The Pacquiao phenomenon keeps picking up steam while Mayweather continues to do his obnoxious spoiled brat bit on 24/7. It's gotten old. People have seen it. They don't give a **** anymore. They want to see action which is precisely why UFC 103 on the same day will do better numbers, and Pacquiao vs Cotto will do better numbers.
