Nothing wrong in "Rooting" for your own. But there is a difference in doing that and picking them to win just because they are from where you are from. I don't pick a fighter to win based on where am from, i root for a British fighter most of the time but it doesn't mean i pick them to win when i know they have no chance. Few exceptions i picked against Ricky Hatton when he fought Mayweather because am a TBE stan and i know Hatton had no chance, I pick Canelo over BJS and was rooting for him because i like Canelo.

Let me help you out there, it’s even more frowned upon with African-Americans support African-American fighters. That downright enrages the weak minded. It’s fine when any other group gets tribal and supports their own….Mexican-Americans, British, Nigerians, Filipinos, Australians, Argentines, Boricuas, germans, Russians, etc etc it’s all good. But when the African-Americans support their brethren, our comes the alt right coded phrases like “race baiting”, “racist”, “ldbc”, “playing the race card”, “victimhood”……as we say in Salford, “chatting shyte.”
Im with Spence, support your countrymen and your volk. Just like when Mexican Americans support mexicans and British support “British boxing.”

EDIT: and let’s get something straight. I served in the US Army, I took an oath several times in two careers, both times to the US Constitution. Of course I would support the fighters of my adopted country that I’m a citizen of now. There are folks back home in the U.K. who support their own just because, without ever having spent time at the two way rifle range. So yes, I’m fine with tribalism what I am not fine with is tribal fans telling other fans they can’t be tribal because it offends their mental fragility.

Errol Spence is **********! Who is he to tell fans who to root for. Next thing you know he’ll say he’s against wearing masks in public to protect at-risk individuals and kneeling in support of mistreatment to **********.

Nobody likes Spence because he's a drink driving ****head.

Dude was lucky not to kill someone when he got drunk and crashed his Ferrari at 150mph.

F*** him, i hope Manny batters him.

"Americans don't rock with Americans … it’s backward for Americans." I think it's different for Americans, because so many of us are from other parts of the globe. Another thing is so many foreign fighters fight mainly in America, so we embrace them as Americans. Canelo and Pacquiao are two examples. I don't want to see Wilder lose, but it's not like I'm rooting for him to win either! I still feel some type of way because he fired Breland, and assassinated his character too!

Is it just cheering for him or do people also have to believe in the costume/egg weight/spiked water/paid off ref/paid off Breland excuses out of patriotism?

What I despise is that it seems African=Americans only become popular when they play the villain role, or they try to imitate Muhammad Ali. Ward and Crawford never played those roles, and they couldn't sell ice water in hell, outside of their hometowns! However everyone is lined up for a Broner fight??? Wilder lost me when he started seeing himself on the level with Ali and Tyson!

I think Americans did mostly back Wilder at first, when he was still undefeated. Bad losses and cringey behaviour are gonna cause people to jump off the bandwagon over time though.

This is perfectly accurate, for example i have seen most if not all Fillipino americans (Born and Bred in America) supporting Pacman against any American fighters. I think it's because America is a foreign land really, so most of the people there identify with their second "Country" in a way.

Fury is a Kronk fighter, and I'm originally from Detroit lol. Anyway, Spence sounds pretty dense here. I'm supposed to back a fighter because of geographic location? Some of my favorite fighters are from other countries.
