Does Wilder represent American extremism? You could make a case for it I s'pose. I just can't take him that seriously... when he is gearing up "To this day" and frowns, and that costume... I tend to hope he is deliberately doing these things to create a buzz.
I guess like many Muricans I worry more about the government taking our civil liberties... About Government deciding that in San Francisco where I am living, its ok for people to attack, steal and not ok for me to retaliate. And while I don't have much in common with those who want to arm to the teeth I cannot help but noticing in northern Nevada, where I also have a place, you can put a gun on your dashboard and nobody cares... and nobody breaks into cars and attacks people. Wilder and his theatrics don't seem to speak to these issues... Wilder may talk of horrid things in the ring, but Government getting bigger every generation is increasing in the communities where my two sons will have to raise their families one day. To me that is horrid. Then again I grew up in an area with guys like Wilder, and Tyson. They were both: the people that I might have to fight with to get home from school, and the friends that had my back.

Wilder isn't selling any fights, nor are his fans. They actually believe this twisted extremism. Slandering innocent people isn't good. Brushing it off isn't either.. He isn't selling the fight to you, or I, that much is true... But to the many fans who watch the Paul brothers? You said it yourself: the mentality of the average person in this country? I don't know about Europe... Do you know one of the most popular forms of theatre for White working class Americans from the 1950's and on? Wrassling!

Look Sid-Knee, I know that UK fighters have gotten their butts kicked this year constantly (except for Josh Taylor.) But don't take your frustrations out on me. Learn to deal with reality in a healthier manner.
Like it or not, if a UK fighter made excuses like this and behaved this then they'd be laughed out of town by the fans. Promoters and TV networks would abandon them.
Character is one part of it, but these fighters also play to their audience. That's one of the big reasons why the Joshua and Wilder responses were so different.

As i say, you throw them under the bus and cling on to someone else where it starts all over again. But this time, you've become Mexican for some reason. Haha.
Eddie Hearn wanted to throw Dillian Shyte in Wilder's path instead. I saw no reason that anyone should have to play Fast Eddie's games.
I'll still support Wilder in the Fury fight because I tend to root for American boxers. Nothing wrong with that. It doesn't stop me from showing respect to excellent foreign boxers when they earn it, such as the Mexican Canelo and Josh Taylor.

But the fact he's still got support tells you why he's responding this way. People go for it.
