Wilder claims they tried to duck the SECOND fight as well as this fight. That is what Sid is referring to.Comment

Well, his eyes are open on the count of 3 or 4, the ref's count was just fine and since Wilder wasn't in a neutral corner for any of it, he should have had even longer.Last edited by Monty Fisto; 06-04-2021, 10:05 AM.Comment

no that is wrong. There is a person outside the ring who begins the count whether or not the other fighter is in the neutral corner. The ref takes up the count once he returns to the action, however the persons count is still official, and if they were to reach 10 before the ref had a chance to return, the fight would still be over by knock out. The 10 count begins once the fighter is down, not when the other fighter reaches the neutral corner.
Wilder did not go to the farthest neutral corner. Therefore Fury should have had even longer, because the ref should have stopped counting and directed Wilder to where he needed to be.Comment

I know John doesn't like this 3rd fight with Wilder.Comment

Yes, there is a timekeeper. But you do acknowledge there is a rule when a boxer is knocked down requiring the opponent to go to the farthest neutral corner and if he does not do so, the ref should stop the count and direct him to the corner.

You need to watch the 12th round again. Wilder walked to the neutral corner immediately with out being instructed by the ref. He began dancing. The ref has his back to Wilder so it's not clear when Wilder begins pacing but, he is seen pacing the far corner after Fury was already off the canvas. Either way no ref would stop the count in this situation because even when Wilder exited the neutral corner he was still across the ring. So your view of how the fight ended is not accurate to what actually occurred.Comment
