Comments Thread For: Hearn: We'll Either Make Deal For Joshua-Usyk Or AJ Will Vacate; Won't Go To Purse Bid

LAS VEGAS - Anthony Joshua still doesn't want to give up his WBO heavyweight title. Joshua's promoter doesn't think the British superstar would even consider vacating one of his four championships unless negotiations for his mandated matchup with Oleksandr Usyk take a sudden turn for the worse. Thus far, talks between Eddie Hearn, whose company promotes Joshua and co-promoted Usyk's last three fights, and Alex Krassyuk, Usyk's other promotional representative, have advanced to the point Hearn is confident that they'll come to an agreement soon.

It's clear as day they didn't want Fury or Wilder and now he's ducking Usyk.

Obviously a fighter with exclusive contracts can't go to purse bids. Won't stop the dumb fans making ****** claims though.

Usyk would only get 20% at purse bids, if he turns down more than that then it's he who is ducking.

Definitely wouldn’t go to purse bid. Am definitely sure the rematch clause is the sticking point. Team Usyk want more money to have that clause in the contract as they aren’t obligated to have one in as a mandatory challenger , Team Joshua wouldn’t take the fight without the clause.

To eradicate this practice, the governing body should call for a purse bid. But they wouldn’t unless both team can’t agree to a deal.

Don't vacate :/ this is a really good fight imo. Usyk moved up after having won the undisputed crown at cruiserweight and Joshua holds the unified crown. The fight sells itself. If Joshua vacates it's not a good look on him. Besides, keeping all the belts on one person assures us that there's a better chance of an undisputed champ being crowned.

He isn’t going to vacate. He would fight Usyk. I think after the Usyk fight if the undisputed fight doesn’t happen, I can then see him vacating his titles.
