But if you ask for someone’s five biggest wins and someone gives your their answer, then why say those names need asterisk’s? Like someone is trying to hide something? We all saw the fights, we all know all the details. So do you have a different five then? Are they all fighters that you would consider to be in their prime and at their best weight? If you tell us then I guess we can judge for ourselves ( if you have stated already I’m sorry for not searching ) Everything is already taken into account when someone gives their answer. Unless your whole point is not that you disagree with his five biggest wins that most people mention but that they actually aren’t that quality compared to historical precedent of other fighters deemed to be great? And that can be your opinion, you can say Floyd’s super overrated and that’s totally fair. Now imagine you have to name your top five Floyd wins then explain why they are better than the usual suspects listed? Imagine you had to do a list those same opponents top five wins? And so forth and so forth. That should give some perspective.
I literally started the thread man. Because I was thinking about it, and wanted to get other's views on what they viewed as Floyd's best wins.

As I said in my OP, I really don't know where I would put Floyd's 5 best wins, because most of the big names on his list, cannot be taken at face value. Many of them were not, in my opinion, even close to the level of let's say a Corrales that Floyd had at 130 pounds.

So yes, people just listing the 5 best names on Floyd's resume and saying those are his best wins, that is not smart imo and I would call that out.

Look at Corrales's form around that time, and the weight at which it was fought, and where Corrales continued to fight after that. Compare that to the big names on his list. Just because a guy has the name on the back of the jersey, doesn't mean that he is still that guy.

I don't hate on Floyd - he is the biggest boxing moneymaker ever, love him or hate him. So I view him in that way. It's all respect and appreciation for him in that lane. However I don't really think his resume was THAT impressive, post 135, considering the conditions of his fights and the form of the opponents. It certainly wasn't as impressive as it would have been had all those guys been in great form and prime etc.

Beating a faded former great at a bad weight for him, is not a better win for me than beating a solid pro in their prime at a good weight for them. Basically was seeing how everyone else felt about that.

I know you started the thread, that’s why it’s confusing. You said you were thinking about it, but you didn’t end up coming up with your own list. You wanted other people’s views, that you were quick to criticize, without even providing your own. I’m sure you knew most of all the names that would be mentioned already. It’s not like you asked anything revolutionary that hasen’t been discussed a bunch of times. If you ask for peoples opinion and are ready to critic them for it, at least have one of your own and open yourself to the same scrutiny. If you admit you don’t know what’s right yourself then why take the time to let people know they are wrong? I’m intrigued with what your five would be, and I’m not blowing smoke. You’ve made good points. Always refreshing to see people who can see things from different angles. I was at the Zab v Floyd fight. I think that’s one of his biggest wins myself. I always thought a fast left handed guy like Zab might be a competitive matchup. It was for a while. I think Zab did score a KD. But we can say an opponent will be someone’s best win before the fight, but if that opponent gets rubbished what does that end up meaning? Im not trying to be a jerk. If I’m coming across that way, I apologize. I wouldn’t be writing it I was trying to waste my time or yours.

In my mind - I started the thread to have a debate. I wanted to see how people felt about many of those wins. Not just listing them, but also giving a little rundown of why the win was impressive.

Also, if I listed any of those big names in my top 5, I would obviously explain why, and would explain how I viewed the win. Simply listing the big names is not enough. Because they cannot be taken at face value.

I mentioned earlier that I view Floyd's work below WW as his best work.

For me, the top 5 would look something like this:

        1) Corrales - already mentioned why - but he showed great form at that weight, before and after the fight. And was a definitive win for Floyd. First loss for Corrales.

And then what do you have? You have all the big names at not ideal weights or times, and good fighters at ideal weights. For me #2 would be

        2) Castillo 2 - definitive win after a close first fight

        3) Maybe Gennaro?

        4) Baldomir?

        5) ODLH?

The guys like Manny - not in great form, not ideal weight, and I think Floyd stalled the fight until Manny aged

Mosley - 39, not in great form, not ideal weight

Canelo - young, inexperienced in real pro fights (showed with bad gameplan), weight drained

Maidana - never scored the whole first fight, but most say it was very close. If the win in fight 1 was clearer it would be a better win for me.

Cotto - inconsistent form before and after that fight -

Judah - lost right before that fight

Hatton and JMM - weight issues in those fights

Robert Guererro was a good win as well in my eyes - good form coming in, at a good weight for him.
