With Miller out, Hearn would need a name to fight in the US, perhaps before the trilogy.

One thing is for sure, Eddie needs a plan for Joshua outside of the Fury fight for that is never guranteed. If Joshua-Fury/Wilder happens, great. Otherwise, they need a good plan B. Ortiz fits into that if it happens without a year. Otherwise, he may be too old for any realistic challenge himself.
This is the second time that Ortiz has put himself forward as a substitute opponent for AJ. The first time, he was actually offered the job he asked for, then turned it down. AJ then fought Ruiz instead, and AJ/Ruiz was also a mismatch, as I remember.

I don’t know how anyone can call AJ v Usyk a “Mismatch”…. I mean AJ v Lucas Browne is a mismatch but to call Usyk a mismatch is laughable. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if he beats AJ, whether he gets a decision over AJ in the UK is another thing.

If Eddie finds a way out of Joshua facing Usyk next - draw your own conclusions

Man Fkk off Ortiz, you are up for fighting anybody yet when anybody offers you a fight the answer is NO. You’ve had chances and you’ve had offers. How about fighting some better opposition and placing yourself in a better position

I've always thought Usyk would be a dangerous opponent for AJ and I'm now wondering if Eddie Hearn shares that opinion. No word so far on how much money Hearn is offering him for the fight, or how much Usyk is demanding to avoid taking it to a purse bid and possibly forcing AJ to vacate. But Eddie never had issues like this with any of AJ's previous mandatory opponents and Usyk doesn't seem like the kind of guy who makes unreasonable financial demands. Makes you think ...

Usyk team have one fight left with him, they are looking to get the biggest money offer for that one fight, which was why they never committed to the Joyce fight until they know the AJ fight isn’t available. They would try and work a deal out rather than go the purse bid route.

Am sure Joshua doesn’t have a choice but to fight him, if not kiss that belt goodbye and his “Goal”.

Come on now, you know how it works on here, Ruiz is going to be played right down in the hope of a victory against Joshua makes for bigger mockery. However had it been the likes of Fury or Wilder facing him it would be seen as a solid test.

it’s the same game with the “fighting somebody’s left overs” bullchit. These ppl claim AJ hasn’t fought a top 2, meaning Wilder or Fury but if he did then he would be fighting somebodies left overs.

Not signing for the Joyce fight turned out to be a good call by Usyk. Let's hope Eddie is bluffing with this talk about AJ possibly vacating the WBO belt.

Because they have a pro wrestler mindset where Size is everything that matters. Joshua looks like how a heavyweight champion in a movie would look.
