    Why did everyone ignore/downplay arbitration?

The media totally ignored it until the past week or so when they said a decision would be rendered soon but even when giving updates they never acknowledged it could stop AJ v Fury. The only one I saw asking Hearn about it was Michelle Joy Phelps and he'd respond that Arum told him there is nothing to worry about they'll probably just order damages for Wilder. Eddie is crazy if he believed Bob & didn't consult his own lawyers on this matter who would've told him arbitration could potentially order Fury to fight Wilder again.

Fans downplayed it. Anytime some of us would bring it up other fans would repeat Arum and Hearns words saying they'll just order damages for Wilder. Nobody knew what the arbiter would order and that's the point some of us kept trying to get across. This was a major factor holding up the fight and nobody was going to put any money up as long as this issue was ongoing. Monday wasn't a surprise to me. I expected it but the way this was ignored and downplayed surprised me

Media and fans have downplayed Wilder since he was an amateur. Par for the course bud, they're consistent.

You said it yourself, they downplayed it due to what Arum told them. Arum told that to the boxing media so they just repeated it, from Copp to Rafael to Pugmire to others.

The truth is not many people are educated enough in the legal system so they just go with what they are told. I agree that Hearn doesn't have that excuse as he has his own legal team and should have consulted with them of all the possibilities of the arbitration and what could have happened had Fury lost his case.

Furthermore, according to Rafael, the judge was not impressed at all of the arguments coming from Team Fury. Arum is NO dummy when it comes to this, he would have known early on where this was heading. There is a reason he put a hold on the Allegiance stadium for the Wilder fight so quickly after arbitration and why Trampler was saying Fury will be returning in July on PPV.....When all the news was of the Joshua fight taking place on August 14.

There were people from Wilder's side dropping hints including Wilder's wife who left a comment on Michelle Joy Phelps Instagram photo telling her arbitration is going to rule Fury has to fight Wilder. From that point on Phelps would ask about arbitration when she talked to Hearn or Fury. I saw some other YouTube videos of small channels with Tay Jones saying the same thing. Even if most of us aren't lawyers I think we all know enough about the legal system to know anything can happen. I guess people were hoping against hope but the media didn't do an ounce of due diligence which is disappointing but not surprising

Arum and Hearn were singing the same tune, while Wilder's credibility took a serious hit after all the excuses and conspiracy theories in the aftermath of his loss to Fury.

What else is a boxing fan supposed to think? It's not like we have a serious vested interest on the outcome of the arbitration. Hopefully Fury vs Wilder happens next, and the winner can fight the winner between AJ vs Usyk.

There isn’t a boxing media anymore.

Its all owned by the companies that promote the fights.

So basically, we get press releases and not reporting.

There wasn’t going to be a press release about arbitration.

The only ones that mentioned it are the sites that shill for the PBC.

They had PBC sources that gave them a date for the arbitration.

It would have looked way different in the days before Top Rank, PBC, Matchroom and Golden Boy took over all the media outlets.

It also would have looked different in the days when newspapers covered the boxing beat and not just fight week.

The promoter who is a lawyer and has a whole family of lawyers said it wouldn't be a problem. What could Hearn or other lawyers done? Not like they could view the Fury/Wilder contract is it?

Arum/Fury were very dishonest. Going to the press giving Hearn deadlines etc when they knew full well they wouldn't sign. Then for Fury to say the fight is on just before. They played everyone.

Because boxing media reiterated anything Arum or Hearn said. It was all taken at face value.
