Would Canelo's power carry at Heavyweight?

Could Canelo's punches hurt heavyweights? Could he survive there?

Are you asking if Canelo at 168 or 175 could hurt heavyweights? If so, absolutely not. He didn't have the power to stop Smith or Jacobs at 168. No way he hurts a halfway decent heavy.

If you are asking what kind of power Canelo would have if he were 200+, he'd be muscle-bound and useless at that weight

Against a relatively unskilled heavyweight that is on the smaller side....sure. but so could other fighters that are campaigning at lower weights.

But against a skilled heavyweight it is not a matter of being able to hurt them, it is a matter of not getting clipped in the slightest by them.

A smaller man does not want to get hit by any jabs from someone who has close to 50 lbs on them, let alone a straight or hook. Andy Ruiz Jr. Who is now a stablemate of Canelo is massive compared to Canelo.

Do you really think Canelo would want to get into exchanges with him with Andy actually throwing 100%?

Likely not. He already said he isn’t going back up to 175. All of his combined advantages appear to be at 168.

Does a heavyweight have stronger orbital bones than someone under 200 lbs? No.

The biggest limiting thing for Canelo would be his size he's barely 5'8" if we're being honest, he's already somewhat undersized for 168. He also doesn't have that young Mike Tyson style to make up for the very small reach he'd have at HW.

Canelo gets stopped by a fully rehydrated Beterbiev. Maybe he can do his little head movement thing with his feet stuck in sand vs. Wilder until Wilder touches his chin. This is crazier than Usyk.

No but his ring iq and experience against top opposition will.

I very much disagree about the bone structure. Of course a larger man has bigger, more robust bones than a smaller man. Do you honestly think the bomb Canelo landed on BJS would have broken the face of George Foreman, or Vitali Klitschko, or Evander Holyfield? We may not see eye to eye here, but I don't think that punch would even buzz those specimens.

Well if he has to weigh in over 200 that could be a detriment. If he could come in around 185-190 he would have a better chance. Mind you he would have to handpick an opponent. Just like when Hopkins was gonna move up to Oleg maskaev and how Andre Ward wanted solely Joshua. Much like toney and Jones picked on John Ruiz. Who do y'all think of that Canelo should fight at heavyweight in your opinion?
