why not though? DAZN operates worldwide and had a decent growth rate before the pandemic hit. My monthly subscription (germany) contributes to their boxing budget the same way as a US based subscription. Before that, a pacquiao fight for example wasnt even shown in germany and that market wasnt touched at all. It's a niche sport here too and in a lot of other countries, but they operate in 200 markets and accumulated they should have a decent # of subscribers by now to justify their spending.

There are some things not to like about DAZN, but it has been the best effort so far to make boxing (way) more accessible globally. Also, most dont really care, but it also provides a boxing stucture for countries like spain and italy currently and I am really hoping matchroom also starts to operate in germany, because german boxing is basically dead currently.

DAZN failed because they choose Canelo as their spokesperson. Canelo was a terrible promoter. DAZN was a failure and It's your boyfriends fault.

That is just his guarantee. It does not include the percentages that he would make off the live gate and Pay Per View sales. He would then more than double exceed what DAZN is offering him.

streams are easy to find. i would just stream or watch the next day. 80 is ridiculous. even 50 is ridiculous for some of the pbc match ups. Im not paying 50 bucks for someone to fight danny garcia, that **** is boring and predictable.

there are somehow still people in 2021 who are reluctant to use an app to watch sport even though netflix has been around for years. I dont get it. But that's a way to work around it.

On Comcast, they offer the fight just on PPV without having to buy the app at all. I don't disagree with your point. I think the reality is many people only watch the big fights, so they prefer to buy on a per fight basis rather than the app because they don't watch the smaller cards DAZN puts on.

Sports and TV shows are a bit different. I think people can watch a show at any time but its tough to watch a sporting event after it happens because you know the outsome.

PPV is increasingly becoming unaffordable. It will kill boxing.

Canelo wouldn't care if it's PPV or not. As long as his money is correct.

Canelo doesn’t have a multi deal with DAZN anymore and the pandemic is fading out. It means per fights basis DAZN can continue raising his guarantee to premium as it was before. Blavatnik was at the Yildirim fight in Miami and was excited to hang out with Canelo in his locker room. Blavatnik just saw what Canelo did at Cowboys stadium with owner Jerry Jones.

PBC’s original offers of $25 mil per fight was a downgraded pay given the rate he is doing now and already at DAZN. PBC has to match and go way higher than they did before. I don’t think fans understand how guarantees and risk work. Risk as in PBC investing.
