I really, really do not give half a **** about a writer's opinion piece.

All it is, is an abuse of power. This subject doesn't matter so who cares, but, fact is dude's got a platform so he uses it to push his opinion. That's a megalo, kiss my ass.

Just occurred to me after remembering some guys bash his opinion on here the other day, but didn't Malignaggi get his orbital bone fractured early against Cotto at 140 (ie a bigger puncher p4p than Canelo at 168), and not only go all 12, but actually win a few rounds after the injury happened? And Paulie had nearly zero power, so it's not like he had any chance at dropping/stopping Cotto, who was a monster at 140.

I guess the difference between Paulie and Saunders is that one ran his mouth and had the skills/toughness to (at least try to) back it up, while the other ran his mouth (see previously posted quotes for examples)...and quit, rather than try to adjust and adapt in order to win the fight. But that was 2006, I think. In 2021 that scenario is too "macho" for increasingly sensitive males (who ironically enough, use gender studies buzzwords against men, just like women do) to envision.

Obviously you do care. You took the time to let everyone know how much you didn’t care. He’s got a platform because he’s a boxing writer and a talented one at that. He’s paid to write pieces so no it’s not an abuse of power unless you feel “offended” by what he writes.

You’d be singing a different tune had Malinaggi died in the ring which is a HUGE possibility with this injury should one continue.

BJS was right to quit AND he deserves the grief he's getting. Doesn't matter if his talk was merely to sell the fight. He set himself up for this fall.

I suspected BJS would find a way to quit prior to the fight. Given the nature of his injury, I don't blame him. All the people mocking him as a quitter have never stepped inside of a boxing ring. Get punched in your eye and lose your eyesight in one eye, then see if you want to come out and fight some more. Most of you would quit from a nosebleed. It reminds me of all the trash talking of Brook when he got his face broken by GGG and then later Spence. Where is it written fighters are supposed to die in the ring, or suffer permanent injury just to entertain a bunch of blood-thirsty goons who didn't even pay to watch the fight, streamed it for free.

Re-read the post until you understand it.

I don't care about his stance on Saunders. I do care about his abuse of power. You get it yet? Do I have to explain what context is? Do I need to explain what journalism is?

I hate to say this but proof or no truth. They can just be making excuses for him. I want to give Saunders the benefit of the doubt I really do. But man, without evidence, the way he quit looks bad.
