No one willl remember Saunder’s as some ‘skilled’ guy, he’s very average. Anyone that actually goes back to watch his fights will see that.
On topic, my issue is the fact that the guy barely out up a fight and achieved nothing, before the stoppage. As per usual, Saunder’s is not worth paying attention to, we were lucky to even get him in the ring, although I suppose the payday compelled him.Comment

"Though comments about Daniel Dubois a year ago are an ironic inconvenience – and a fortunate source of material for detractors – they go a long way toward showing that no matter how tough some of these clowns might talk, their tunes tend to change when they’re the ones with the crushed faces."
I would say his comments are more than an "ironic inconvenience!" It's the main reason why so many are furious at BJS. Yes, it was a good call by his team, but a call to Dubois to apologize would be a much more classy move!Comment

yes - but one morehard punch on that damaged area could see him blind in that eye - and that could happen in the first ten seconds of the next round.
He could of came out for the next round, and just survived for awhile 'Then the towel get throw in'.
It is a risk, but the narrative of the entire fight would be different.
That is all I am saying etc
Say something different mate? Everyone knows his eye socket was damaged.Comment

No the people mocking and attacking him would still be doing that. But now his career would be over and he would be blind in one eye.

If you are comparing him with other world champions then you may have a point but I am looking at all the professional boxers out there - 99% are not even known by hard core boxing fans these are the guys who have a handful of fights. Then you have prospects who never make it to contender status. Contenders who fall short. BJS was a 2 weight belt holder, which counts for something even in this era of diluted championships, and he held his own for a few rounds with Canelo. In short he achieved what 99.9% of all the other fighters in the world fighting around this weight are not able to do and if starting out now, will never be able to do. Perspective is elusive.

Nobody had this narrative with Kell Brook, he injured his eye 'Came out for the next round, then the towel was thrown in' etc
But yes it is a big risk, and why care what people think anyway.

As many others have said on here, if Saunders has to choose between a positive 'narrative of the fight' AND risking the loss of his eye .... then for most rational people the choice is an easy one.
He could of came out for the next round, and just survived for awhile 'Then the towel get throw in'.
It is a risk, but the narrative of the entire fight would be different.

Professionally the right decision was made, I was just thinking about a scenario where? People's perceptions would be entirely different.
But really Saunders should only value himself and his teams perceptions in that situation etcComment

Boxing writers, news flash, a lot of the backlash that Billy Joe Saunders is getting is rooted in things that he did and said. The dude was a total prick in the buildup to the fight. He made excuses, he talked trash, he mocked Mexican nationals for not speaking English as well as he does. He claimed to be the baddest man and said he was going to dominate the fight.
Further, he's been this way his whole career. He got humbled on Saturday night. Sure his injury necessitated that he quit on his stool. But don't tell me that Billy Joe Saunders shouldn't have to eat humble pie. He's a complete jerk who acted as disrespectful of Mexican people as he possibly could then when he got his butt kicked and eye socket caved in by Mexico's best fighter, you, his fellow white people, reporters talk down to us and tell us we can't celebrate Saunders being beaten, exposed as a hypocrite and you insist that he should not have to eat his humble pie. Why?Comment
