Plant is wank. Canelo crushes him. But you would be dumb to think Plant will even take that fight. He talks the talk but when offered to walk the walk he twice turned it down.

If Haymon could get it on Fox or Showtime he would maybe release Plant from his dungeon but he won't want to compete with Hearn and DAZN so he will just have Plant make his excuses and keep his belt hostage.

Belts aside, I'd rather see Charlo or Benavidez fight Canelo. I just don't think Plant's foot/hand speed and defense will be enough to keep Canelo from breaking him down. I think I'd rather see Alvarez in with someone who will be throwing some heat back at him.

I do not HATE Plant giving Alvarez a better fight than Saunders. I could talk myself into it.

If Alvarez stays dialed in, not sure how he loses. But Alvarez was head hinting against BJS, not the complete show he usually does. He was looking for the big shot. Maybe it was just because he saw something he wanted to exploit, but Plant is not a bad technical fighter, has very respectable movement and defense. So of Alvarez is starting to believe his headlines and he is getting sloppy, Plant is decent enough to steal rounds.

Let's look at this from another angle:

Alvarez gives a payday that changes the financial outlook of everyone. He gives Plant a shot at 2 historic outcomes: Upsetting the P4P #1 and being 168 unified champ. If he loses: So what? Right now everyone loses to Canelo. He just goes back to work at 168 as a more recognized name.

Why wouldn't he do it? Personally, I could see doing one more defense first, but this is what most people see as a no brainer
