Not the only man to unify the Middleweight division since Hagler.

Not the man who broke Monzon's title defense record the night of the Trinidad fight.

    Not that prime Hopkins.

The Hopkins that fought Roy the 1st time, and the Hopkins that was supposed to fight Roy back in late '01 or early '02 are two totally different animals.

Hopkins wanted a 50/50 split and Roy wouldn't give it to him because he still didn't deem him worthy. Despite the fact that Hopkins achieved so much in 2001.

Instead Roy opted to fight Glen Kelly and Clinton Woods.

Now the shoe is on the other foot ; it's Hopkins who holds all the cards, has the better record, more high profile wins, and is ontop of his game again.

So let me be the first to say ; "60/40 Hopkins kick 'yo ass. 60/40 Roy get his ass tore up."

Thats absolute bull****, and I cant believe it even came from you.

You mean the Bernard that had two more professional fights than Roy? Amateur experience or not, you think Roy was PRIME at 21-0?

    Really?

How about the fact that AFTER Roy BEAT Bernard.. Bernard didnt lose for another 12 YEARS... what about that?

Only when Roy decided to move up in weight, was middleweight there for the taking for Bernard.

hagler lost an early fight or two...wasn't like he scaled down from 160 to 147 to feast on welterweights...

stop right here with the excuses because your boy hopkins lost...the fact remains he entered boxing as a LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT and LOST, took whatever the hell time he needed to scale down to middle and feast on a weak division....lost his first big test to somebody his size with equal talent and decided it was best to stay at 160 and dominate a weak division... that is until he met another fighter his size with equal talent named jermaine taylor, lost again 2x and got chased out of 160...

all of that other garbage you hopkins huggers love to spew is irrelevant...he never moves down to 160 if he won his first 20 or so fights and gets a title shot at 175...i've done produced too many facts to support this...you can spot these hopkins balllickers a mile away because when faced with the truth they love to call people ******, idiots, etc....lol...btw, when do you hopkins excuse makers throw in the f**king towel jeezus...lol

      • Roy didn't fight a ton of cats he should have throughout the year and since he has nothing to lose now, he wants to make the fights.

Rj fans can't give me none of this bull****, by all accounts, the man was a diva and a wouldn't budge from his position. As a result, a lot of great fights weren't made. Off of their track record, it was because of RJ the fight didn't happen years back.

So now he wants to make it? B-Hop has too many options now, RJ's are limited. The shoes on the other foot now, get in line.

lmmfao...hopkins used boxing skills?...to beat pavlik?...lmmfao...anybody with any common sense knew that hopkins had more talent in his left pinky than pavlik had in his whole body...plus pavlik had to move up two divisions from 160 and fight a natural lightheavy, so that meant hopkins was bigger, stronger, and faster...i'll even throw in smarter...hell pavlik looked like he was stuck in the mud....mudwrestling...i give pavlik some credit though he had heart and he stayed clean...boy you hopkins ballickers get so gassed on nard beating up on inferior opposition you can drive from new york to california...

Yes, and anyone that doesn't believe so is living in denial. Don't be fooled by Jeff "LOL" Lacy and Omar Sheika.
But that's just it, he was fighting Sheika and Lacy not Hopkins. That would be epic...."Unfinished Business- Rd 2" the fight title

Not for long, if he doesn't fight someone in the next year, he may be mistaken for a retiree.

Hop was very green, yet had more fights than RJJ...but RJJ wasnt green...

its obvious that it was about amatuer experience at this point in their careers...20 fights deep.

hopkins fans are some of the amazing people on earth...in the face of truth they will still make up some of the most remarkable excuses known to mankind, and pass it as truth in their own delusional minds, rather than just accept the truth as it is...

Jones had it all over Hop back then and proved it in the ring.
please man don't give these hopkins balllickers any more delusional excuses than they already muster up when their boy loses....

So in the last 5 years Jones is 0-3 against Elite fighters.

                    I'll call that shot.

                    That's pretty debatable man.

Yes he looks great against ****ty fighters. Horrible against anyone good.

Really?? So you're basing his current awesomeness against Tarver, Glen Johnson, Calzaghe or Hanshaw?

I guess it's a difference of opinion of what the term shot. Whatever you want to call it, he's clearly no where near as great as he once was.
Wrong! Shot fighters don't even look good against B level guys like Lacy. Did you forget that even Joe Calzaghe couldn't put him away or force a stoppage? Don't say, 'he was a diferent fighter then', because he fought the exact same way at the exact same pace.

Jones may be only about 65% of his former, pre-heavyweight self, but that's still good enough to beat 90% of the light heavyweight top 20.

I think Jones would own Tarver or Johnson in a rematch and give allot better fight to Calzaghe after getting his confidence back. Allot of people forget that this 'old' Jones did drop Joe and was one devastating shot away from a suprise KO victory. A few more uppercuts like the one he landed at the end of the 6th would have closed the show, in my opinion and the fight wasn't out of reach until the cut happened.
