He is not at the point of being on Chavez's level at this time if he retired now but he is still young enough to do bigger things.

It's easy to reach 90 undefeated when you fight about 40 debutants and 45 journeymen. JCC is so overrated.

I’ve said a 100 times, Miguel Rivera is just a tabloid alias that’s always instigating Hispanic media and uses snips to make it and everything seem bad or go against each other. Trust me, I follow Chavez Sr. heavy, and ever since Canelo graces Chavez Jr. with that payday he has been nothing but respectable to Canelo. Chavez Sr. always speaks highly of Canelo too. The alias submitting these articles is probably Michael Montero.

Chavez has wins over prime Hall of Famers on his resume, Canelo doesn't. That alone puts Chavez in a higher bracket. Canelo has tons of skills though and definitely passes the eye test.

Chavez was a different breed of fighter and a once in a lifetime talent. In my lifetime I watched about 50 or so Chavez fights. He fought guys in their prime years and beat most if not all of them. He got some disputed decisions but he can't be judge and fighter at the same time. Canelo is good and will be great but he is caught up in Floyd's era of cherry picking opponents. He needs to fight the Charlo brothers, Victor Andrade and guys that are in their primes to get the respect that Chavez has. Only then will he be at the level that Chavez is in.

Chavez Sr. can compliment Canelo Alvarez and also think he’s not going to surpass his own accomplishments.

Its possible to be complimentary of someone without thinking they’re the best to ever represent their country.

Everyone fights a few tomato cans on their way up the ladder. Yeah Chavez fought some taxi cab drivers and bartenders on his way up but he became something fierce once he got there.

That’s not Chavez Sr.’s style of being ego-centric. He’s a humbly guy and Canelo fan. This article by “Miguel Rivera” is traditional trolling against Hispanic media

You didn’t even read the article. The interview was with La Afición, not the reporter you hate.

Chavez was asked a question and answered it.

Miguel Rivera wrote a story around the quote.
