What does America think of AJ vs Fury?? Is it a BIG fight?

I am tired of this **** how this is not a big fight in USA. Who cares. America is not important at heavyweight. In Europe nobody gives a damn about Spence, Crawford, nobody even knows who these guys are.

Agreed. 6'9 white dude with a big mouth vs 6'6 jacked black dude who looks every bit like what people think a HW boxing champ looks like, Its money. I still think its (kind of) money in America to some degree even now because for most of the build up its been a three way rivalry with Wilder involved plus there was AJs high profile **** up in the US with Ruiz.


You're right about the Crawford, Spence et al thing though. Its weird honestly. Boxers starpower tends to be very regional because of how fragmented it is with the different promotions in different markets etc.

Yes it is. Boxing fans in Europe care about heavyweights the most. It was not any different when Mike Tyson and Holyfield fought. They were stars for Europeans.

Nobody knows Canelo there. They just don`t care if I ask people. I have to go to boxing gym to find people who will watch Canelo - Saunders.

No. Those who take pride in nationality are fools. Race I can understand. Some people would say Americans are welcoming to others (sans the thief, Trump). I can understand Americans thinking that Trump is beneath them. So, it's kinda generalization.

We are moving away from boxing here. You can't honestly argue that if this was two American HW's, it wouldn't be billed as the biggest fight in boxing history? The fact remains, this is the first undisputed HW clash for all four alphabet titles.

Here in the UK, I think the only bigger sporting event would be England in a World Cup or Euro’s final. I don’t think there’s many people in the entire country that don’t know who AJ and Fury are, they are household names. Kids know them and granny’s know them. Like Manny and Canelo in their own countries. But what’s different in the UK now is the names AJ and Fury have become synonymous with each other.

You couldn’t say the same about any current American fighter in USA. Your average Joe on the street has no idea who Errol Spence is. The last was Floyd, before that probably like Tyson, where even non boxing fans know the name.

The reality is boxing is not much of a mainstream sport in other places, even USA to a degree. The fact this will probably do near 3m buys in the UK in a population of 60m, when the biggest fights in the USA have done around 4m in a country of 300m, even with price difference, I think it’s fair to say the general public are not massively into boxing in USA. It’s still a pretty niche sport, a few events aside.

Measuring the success of fights in the US by how many $80+ PPVs they sell is dumb. It's the $80+ PPVs that have killed the sport there.

Fury v Joshua is incredibly big in the UK. I'm not sure people from the US can really comprehend just how big. Think Ali v Frazier in a country that gives a schit.

It will pull similar numbers to Fury vs Wilder in America.
It might pull a little more depending on the marketing in the US.
It is happening in Las Vegas on July 17th. So expect a lot of marketing in that area.

It's the biggest fight within the div. Neither would be gatekeepers in the Holy, Bowe, Lennox,Tua era.
