Hopkins never had a Country behind him or hid behind a 0. He made himself by winning the best available. #respect

let me make it easier for you to understand athleticism.

Carl Froch and Calzaghe, fighters whom I’m a huge fan of, don’t have defining fights (vs who?) where they sacrificed weight the way Canelo did with Floyd. Froch didn’t fight Ward lower than 168. Calzaghe... I mean if we want to reference Bhop... Bernard was not “prime” in that time. Some fans claim if you gain too much weight and retract, it’s dentrimental. Meaning, if Bhop never went to 175 YET and had fought Calzaghe in a 168 title fight, how would that fight have gone? Hard to say.

Carl Froch and Calzaghe weren’t subjected to today’s standards of advanced drug testing...

these things are important to note because we’re talking about “natural” performance or two guys undergoing advanced random testing a month or months out. Most in their era simply relied on a post fight urine test... point is you can be on stuff a lot closer to the fight and rinse because there’s no random testing to begin with....
Canelo Alvarez did not really sacrifice that much weight, against Austin Trout which was his last fight before Mayweather he weighed in at 153 pounds. And against Mayweather he weighed in at 152 pounds 'There was also no re-hydration clause' for the Mayweather fight.

So Canelo Alvarez weighed in 153 pounds vs Austin Trout 4 months prior to facing Floyd Mayweather. And when Alvarez faced Floyd Mayweather 4 months later 'Alvarez weighed in at 152 pounds, and was free to regain or pumped himself up over 170 pounds'.

Alvarez is a great fighter, but there are levels of ability. He does not have elite level athleticism. And I have no idea why you keep going on about weight draining, if a fighter wants to weight drain themselves then? That is their decision, NOT all fighters weight drain themselves.

Some top fighters where still having same day weigh in's during the 80's. Floyd Mayweather did not weight drain himself, because he probably knew the philosophy was silly.

Floyd Mayweather was not even at his peak vs Alvarez 'It was his last great technical performance, but I think other versions of Mayweather would of stopped Alvarez'.

Why u lying. 153 vs 153.5 in making weight is not the same. Lol

canelo stepped 153.5 against Trout, not 153

Canelo was already having trouble making 154 since Cintron and needed an IV for Smith...

152 vs 153.5 is exactly three 8oz water bottles. If one is already having trouble making 154 then imagine depleting this on top of that.

and you completely ignore that Floyd couldn’t cut 2lbs of water for Marquez

He was a naturally TALL middleweight. he wasn't big. He got outweighed by many of his opponents. Made 157 against Oscar no problem

I don't know why Canelo groupies keep bringing up that two pounds against Mayweather, but are fine with two years of "155 or no fight" or weight draining guys like Rocky Fielding or Chavez Jr.

But yeah, that two pounds miraculously makes the loss not count.

that may be true but not everybody carries weight the same. I think Felix outweighed Hopkins on fight night (correct me if I'm wrong), but make no doubt Hopkins was the bigger man. I'm a huge Hopkins fan, but I'm not sure if he's the best example I would use for hard work surpassing natural physical talents + talent.

I know what you mean, I just hate people looking at height instead of overall body structure. Whenever people say “so and so is this height so he can only fight in this division” I just shake my head. Remember that GGG and Mike Tyson are the same height.
