Weird fight I thought Wardley was badly fatigued and hurt a few times and Molina barely got touched and randomly quit when he looked like he was getting to Wardley.

Wardley is still very young and had no amateur career considering I think he has some very good qualities & natural ability. He's obviously taken to boxing very quickly but a real worry of mine is why a guy with such gifts and natural ability isn't improving from fight to fight.
He's blatantly a guy who ends up at a boxing gym and trainers etc are probably shocked when he says he's never done it before but for whatever reason I am just not seeing any real development.

Says the Devin Haney fan, a guy who was gifted a world title and STILL hasn't fought a top 10 opponent. If Wardley were an American, you BSing Yanks would be praising him up like the second coming.

Just use the standard UK HW litmus test for a future world champ.

Is he over 6 '4?

Is he over 225lbs?

Does he look athletic?

No amateur pedigree, no problem.

Has he beaten 5 bouncers / construction workers?

Does he have a decent IG following?

Doe he have his own clothing line?

Is he willing to fight Dave Allen?

If he checks at least 3 of the above he can be hyped as the next Antony Joshua.

Wardley is not like those other great prospects! The ones that fight as Ammys, no head movement, no footwork, jab cross, jab cross.... just mystefying in that punch selection... Kid should learn to keep a high guard and not trade, cause its IMPOSSIBLE to teach a professional boxer to keep his hands up...

Some of the crap I a reading on this thread... You know I have boxing books from the 1870's where a British trainer, world known at the time, is complaining about the so called Amatuer training methods that made boxers into robots.... Power hand back, chin up so even Jesus is tempted to take a crack at it.... And here we are so much later and the same ignorance predominates. Lets make every heavyweight into a KLitsko machine... Grab, hold, flinch, jab jab, repeat rinse...

I don't know what people do not see. This kid is very talented. He is somewhat unique in that he has developed movement skills, can use his head and shoulders already, and knows how to cut the ring. Yet people talk like he did a foot reap to Molina! Ippon Nagi! Osu!! He is light on his feet, has a decent jab already that extends his reach because of his mobility, I love it.

These skills are the reason Fury is so unique... Except with Fury, he has been trained in them since a youth. And no... this kid is no Fury... YET. And no there is no guarantee that, like most prospects, he will not have foibles that stop his ascension... thats the game folks.

I don't know about this kid's chin, but he showed good instinct in dealing with getting tagged. I honestly do not think Wardley was intent on avoiding a shot... and I do think he is capable of holding his guard higher if need be. He was trying to get in rounds, Moulina was not a challenge to him. He controlled Mollina well and showcased movement skills that are different than every other prospect coming up from that stifling Ammy background. Maybe because he works with Whyte, who came into boxing from a path not so set in the amuteurs, he is working on skills one does not see today. Good for Dillian Whyte!

This kid can fight up... as long as he does not need to go undefeated. Let him lose and develop. Derrick Chisora lost lots of times and also fought a few times for the championship. This kid could be sensational if he can get some experience and has no major weaknesses. My only question is can he stay the course?

Just look at all Wardley does already: forget his opponent. Look at the footwork, the ring cutting, the use of the jab from a moving position, look at how he protects the head with his shoulder when that side is close to opponent, look how he uses repositioning to escape an attack, and does not stand there...look at his head movement, how fluid it is... and tell me these are things other fighters are doing.

You can support and be a fan of fighters from different countries than the one you were born in you know? I'm not a 'Yank' & didn't think I was even being all that critical of Wardley if anything I am saying he's a novice, he needs to develop. Its too early to write him off.

Gamboa was top 10, no? My thing is this Gamboa is way past prime, sure but fans act like he is a corpse but then in the same breath will talk up fighters like Luke Campbell. What makes anybody think he is any better than a shot Gamboa?
Fans were talking up Abdullaev - Haney trashed this guy now people act like he never existed.
He's fighting Linares next cause none of these pretenders want to fight him. He's fighting the best opposition that will actually get in the ring with him - all you can ask. Hardly Haneys fault people would rather call him boring and defend cowardice and call themselves fans of the sport than make it vocal their fighter needs to grow some balls.

Wardley had no amateur career and fought Molina in his 11th pro fight. You obviously no nothing about how boxing works. He's not going to be anywhere near the finished article after no amateur fights and 11 pro fights. You're just a bias, double standard holding American hypocrite. Wardley has done a lot of sparring with top HWs like AJ, Whyte, Hrgovic and has been a regular sparring partner for Usyk since Oleksandr was a CW. He is an admirer of the shifty style of Usyk and Loma and you can see that influence in his own approach to boxing.
