What I can't understand is why Mayweather is all over WWE, just after he was supposedly injured and had to call off the fight with Marquez. Anyone got any ideas?
Yeah because he was injured in June and it's August...

I doubt that the Cotto/Pac fight bombs out, and even by strange luck you got lucky and it did flopped, it will still do better numbers than the Floyd/JMM fight.

To be fair we really don't know how well the fight between Hatton and PAC did because Arum never officially released the PPV numbers. But it's a pretty safe bet that it didnt do as well as FMJ and Hatton are he would have released them already...

For the good of boxing, I hope the Mayweather/JMM fight will succeed and get an above average PPV buys. I think the success or failure of this bout will also reflect the financial outcome of the Pacquiao/Cotto fight.

The present economy will play a big factor in the success of both fights.

Hopkins vs Jones was a chess match and no one calls that boring, that's because two smart fighters in one ring make for a fun fight to watch.

Boxing matches don't have to all be action packed, this is not MMA. Boxing is a much more disciplined sport. I can't wait for this fight.
Sorry but Hopkins vs. Jones was boring. Another reason I have no interest in seeing a rematch.

I don't think it will do massive numbers but i think it will do a little better than Pac - Cotto.
Except that if you knew anything about the Mexican market you would know that Marquez is not much of a draw. It will get decent numbers but GBP won't make a profit.

FWIW, here's the Floyd/Hatton numbers from different sources. Initial numbers said it was 850K buys:

And here's an article about a Michael Koncz interview saying after all the numbers were in, the US ppv sales for the Pac/Hatton fight was 930k. I wouldn't give it much weight though since it could a bias statement but since the initial count after a day or two after the Pac/Hatton fight was 860k, so it could still be closer to the truth than a hype job.
